Been a while since ive lasted posted. So im gnna drop another treat for u folks.

Being in reboot sucks. I know. And a lot of ppl are wanting to know what to expect including:

How long before my reboot is complete?

So heres the bread and butter of it.

You need approximately 2 months of reboot for every year u have been watching pmo.

An easy way to calculate this is to multiply the number of years uve watched it by 2. And thats the amount of months ur expected to be in reboot.

Read also the rules of this equation below
This estimate is based on the assumption that:
    1. U are currently single and not sexually active
    2. You are practising complete abstinence, no edging, no psubs, viewing, touching, or any form of sexual behavior.
    3. You have at least a moderate to severe form of addiction.
    4. You are otherwise healthy mentally physically etc.
    5. You have had at least 1 sexual relationship in the past.
    6. You were born 1980 and up, or considered a millenial.

If you dont fall under all 6 of those requirements ur reboot recovery equation may be altered in some way., whether shortened or lengthened. But overall it wouldnt deviate too much. Feel free to ask questions via post below or thru PM and ill give my insight on it.

Do not be discouraged by the time length. Reboot is not a light switch; meaning change occurs gradually. U will notice for the most part some form of healing every 30 days all the way up to ur reboot completion. Ur sexual function may return even before ur 100% rebooted.

If u like my content check out my other threads.

Im currently 9 months in and been hosting a 50 member accountability group on kik since february.

A two to three year reboot is not what I signed up for. I thought 90-150 days would do it.

I think this is good rough guideline but I think the experience will vary from person to person. The best strategy is to just do no pmo and not worry about when it will "work" the results will come if you are consistent in your efforts. If you are new to nofap you will likely experience benefits both mentally and physically early on.

That equation can make sense. It takes a trauma victim approximately 2 years for every one year of trauma they experienced and in this situation you could consider the brain a trauma victim from the use of pornographic training.

However, everyone's mind can recover from anything differently depending on how they attack the situation.

Abstinence is obviously the most important factor but how and what you do to progress outside of abstinence I think will also play a major factor. Everyone will have different things they could experience or respond to which could speed the process or slow the process in my humble opinion.

I had a good run well over a year, likely closer to a year and a half. I rebooted to different degrees throughout that period. I played around for a little by trying happy mediums (masturbation without edging or porn, still pictures, lube\no lube, and finally pornography with an attempt at moderation) and would say that for me the reboot in regards to mental and physical progress stopped immediately upon prolonging orgasm with edging. I was able to identify it out of control quickly this time and notice the recovery perks happening more quickly as well. So how well your brain is wired for life without pmo and a natural sex life I would believe also plays a significant factor in the rate at which the reboot takes effect.

That may work for a casual addict. But for someone heavily involved, needs to know systematically what is happening throughout their reboot so they can be prepared. Often times things will start to get really rough during reboot, and most addicts will be looking for answers to stay committed.

Recovery cannot be taken lightly. Pmo should be approached no different than any other abusive substance and therefore requires a good understanding of recovery times.

If these calculations work for hard mode, what about a no PM reboot with regular sex with a partner?

I think I am going to have to both agree and disagree. I will say this based on knowledge of trauma in general. PTSD and trauma recovery greatly differs based on the individual. I would need to say there are a ton of factors involved that would affect recovery time. The mind adapts, builds new pathways and recovers based on use or lack of use. I think a significant other would make a major impact, how often you might mentally focus (or obsess) on the addiction itself, whether you create new activities to replace PMO and how well you enjoy those activities (finding a passion vs. a simple time replacement activity)

I think a very significant factor that comes into play regarding PMO is the age and real world experiences of the addict. When PMO took a hold of me I already had many years of real life sexual experience and had a good grasp of what I found sexually arousing and knew the weird little sexual fetishes I had. This gave me a baseline so any escalation of extreme content didn't confuse me as to what my interests actually were in real life. I knew that the problem lies somewhere in the problem with pornography. This allows my mind to reset a lot faster than my body in the past it seems (at least that's my hypothesis).

However, if a kid who's primary and\or possibly only experience with sex is PMO of horrified me to think how long it would take to reboot in both a physical and mental capacity. Also, having an escalation of content that gives you a very confusing and deceiving idea of what your sexual interests and\or orientation may be as a first experience with sex is a terrifying thought to me.

What a threat this poses to young minds with virtually no education on how to approach a topic like this and the dangers that lie within. Coupled with the secrecy factor that you do not necessarily have with other mind warping addictions it just scares me to think how badly this literally mind fucks a young person sexually before even potentially experiencing sex in a natural setting.

If this equation is right, I'm looking at a 5 year reboot.... wow.... got to keep focused on today. I wonder if serious attention to diet and exercise can speed up the process.

Film, Beta, VHS, CD's, Penthouse, etc. porn has existed for awhile. I do not buy that PMO is only related to highspeed Internet.

  10. I am sorry Mateo, but on what basis do you suggest this reboot equation? Is this information you have read somewhere else or the results of research? If it is a personal viewpoint, upon what is it based? In my opinion this is a nonsense!

E.G. A 30 year old guy (born in 1987 and fits all the other rules of your equation in every way). He starts masturbating to high-speed internet porn in 1999 (aged 12). So, his PMO addiction goes back 18 years.
18 x 2 = 36 (months). 3 years!? o_O So, according to you this poor guy won't recover until the end of 2020! :( WTF!

Of course, his reboot at the end of 3 years, assumes that he has no relapses! You cannot be serious Mateo. This is nuts!

I don't think formula here is based on proper research, and it does not take into account all the people that recovered far more quickly than usual - because those stories will not be posted on this site as those people will not feel the need to post on a forum for support.

But perhaps it is better than the 90 days theory - which does seem a bit short for long term addicts that do post often and do need the support. This theory might not be as discouraging in that sense.

But also remember that this theory might also be biased in the sense that people prefer to know something is certain (even if it is bad - i.e. this formula shows you will be recovered in 2 years), rather than facing uncertainty (things could turn out either good or bad - i.e. you may or may not recover in 6 months).

I've come around to the idea of a full reboot in 2-3 years. It gives me a sense that after the initial 90-150 days are over that there will still be more benefits to come, and those benefits will still accrue for a solid amount of time after the initial reboot is complete.
I tend to get complacent after I reach a goal. Now I feel like I can strive for 3 years and it will all be worth it. Imagine how great the next 3 years of your life will be if you felt better every day than you felt the day before.
I'm only on day 42, which is by far a record for me going back 17 years and my life has gotten so much better. I still have some negative effects from noFap but the negative effects (which are temporary) do not outweigh the years of misery I experienced.

Here is a saying you can take home with you.

hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
Being overly optimistic, spineless, and "starry" eyed about this whole idea of controlling your sexual energy and reboot addiction is what causes people to struggle in the first place. They get this delusion that things should be easier than they are. That they are entitled to an "easy" or "shorter" recovery; and that often is weakness talking in your stead. Their so weak willed they cant even conceptualize longer than 3 months of being clean; its like an impossibility to them. But I've been beyond that, and I can tell you there is greatness far beyond what you can comprehend in your current state of mind. 3 years? Poor me? Fuck that, 3 years? Lets go, im up for it. That's the attitude of a winner. Nothing can hold you back. Be willing to give up sex forever, in the pursuit of winning and freedom, thats how far you should set your mind to. How much your willing to sacrifice. Thats the big boy game that gets you true results.

Will it be good if you happen to reboot earlier? Sure, but your prepared to go as long as it takes. The universe is fair and will grant you your desire when you earn it sufficiently. There are no shortcuts.

I dont sugar coat nothing for yall. I'm 9 months in and I can speak from personal experience, the growth continues WELL beyond this idea of "90" days. 90 days is just the beginning to the greatness that is to come.

If you are a true winner, you'll have no disagreements.

The true winners will understand my words, because winning is all im setting out to do.

This is a vast simplification. A general rule of thumb is that if you developed a porn addiction before or during pubescence (or even before the age of 25 while your brain is still developing), your reboot will take longer. Two months is a generic minimum (this is more applicable to older guys who did not have access to high speed internet when they were younger). As to a maximum, there is no consensus, but I'd say anywhere from 6 to 9 months is a reasonable estimate. Everyone is different however, so unfortunately for us, we must do whatever it takes, (unless you consider some other form of therapy for your reboot rather than just true abstaining).

I'm with you on that one. I'm 3 months clean, and never going back to porn. I don't care how long I have to wait to recover or what it takes, it's worth it to me.

  20. In fact, you are 6 months in man! o_O
