So I've been staying away from PMO for 11 days now and to be honest, I feel like shit.

I think I'm having really bad withdrawal symptoms like depression, ocd like symptoms and anxiety. I have also lost interest in everything (this happened a year ago but it is now a bit worse), I also feel a sense of confusion and a feeling of being lost aswell the lack of want for socialising with people. But I've heard this is normal for the most part and have experienced similar things before when going on long streaks and I think it's from dopamine withdrawal.

But I stumbled upon this forum infested with people saying that their STILL have withdrawals for 160+ days and some even up to 3 years. This is so demotivating as surely this has to be mental illness that is unrelated to nofap? Like how on earth could you have them for 3 years!!!

Here's the link if you guys want to see, I think it's bullshit:
    http://www.yourbrainrebalanced.com/forum/threads/when-did-your-withdrawals-disappear.20698/

Did any of you have them? If so how long did they last for you because i'm on my second week and my emotions are all over the place

Lots of extreme cases on yourbrainrebalanced in general.
I don't think it withdrawal at some point, I just think some people have other imbalances going on and it's affecting their libido.
At this point your only option is to keep rebooting because we know the alternative doesnt help.

I agree, funny thing is was that a little bit after creating this post, I realised that actually I am in a flat line because I was too dumb to realise that I had no libido. So yes it could be withdrawral and flatline in the same time (in my case).

Yea, I'm going thru a brutal flatline too. Making dumb decisions, unfocused.
Just keep getting thru the day. Our survival depends on this

Have to be honest, this was not motivating at all ;)

Do you have them for a longer time now that you are 1 year in?

I tried to quit a few times before. Each time symptoms were getting worse. I had irritability, body pains, tingling sensations, sleepyness. But it lasted 2-3 weeks and was manageable.

Last year (a year ago) hell broke lose and after i noticed porn became boring to me all those symptoms kicked in like I never imagined it was possible. Anxiety, Depression, akathasia, body pain, muscle tension, severe depersonalization, brain fog/ no focus and concentration, wet dreams 3 times per week for 3 months straight, nightmares or sex/porn dreams almost every day, headaches, fatigue, dizziness, severe Mood swings.

It has improved a bit but symptoms are still very debilitating.

Yes, you can have withdrawal symptoms up to 2-3 years but they will get less frequent and less extreme. Also, alot of people on here and on yourbrainonporn are older than you (your profile says your 16) so they probably are addicted for a longer time therefore the reboot proces will be alot harder + longer. For example, i'm 25 years old and started when I was 10-11 years old. That means that i'm almost addicted to p for as long as you live. And on long streaks, say 60+ days i feel already a lot better and don't experience crazy withdrawal symptoms everyday, from time to time they hit me but it gets a lot easier to deal with. The first month is the hardest. Good luck on your Journey and keep going!

Wow man thank you for the response, that really was heart warming. Just goes to show how destructive porn really is when in fact it is socially accepted and deemed as "normal".

I sincerely hope porn gets a banned or atleast get some form of "restriction" to help avoid young kids from getting addicted at a young age and damaging their brains

Yeah, take my post as a warning what can happen if you don't stop. Consider yourself lucky you found out about this at age 16. Your healing process probably won't be painful as mine.

Trust me, when i stopped unintentionally back in 2016, I started experiencing most of those symptoms you stated. So it's not all rainbows and butterflies for me either - those were probably one of the worst things I have experienced in my life but they soon subsided in which I started fapping again. This time, I have my guard up so will you, let's get through this!

Yes i totally agree with you. It is still fairly New and it will get more serious attention in the future. I don't know if it will get banned, look at sigarets. And also, even if it gets the attention and Kids are warned, it will not guarantee that kids will stay away from it, look at drugs and alcohol. But i agree with you it should, i think it can be maybe even more destructive than drugs, alcohol, sigarets etc.

  14. Whatever you do don’t get into kindling with PMO it makes the symptoms even worse.

Yeah man, thankfully the flatline allows me to experience 0 urges so it is so much easier to not PMO. Day 11/12 is a bitch

Doesnt it feel like each setback makes the recovery longer? When I first started rebooting I remember waking up with incredible libido by day 28 or so, then after relapse I rebooted for like 60 days, libido lasted thru the relapse a bit longer. Etc etc
Fast forward a few years Now after a month of relapsing, I'm flat for months, and yea looking at porn is like looking at a dining table. No excitement, it's like a permanent flatline regardless of rebooting or not.

It's almost like the damage compounds do you agree or is it different for you?

  17. Yea I am well and truly fucked if that is the case. I've been withdrawing on and off since 2013. I remember you from YBR as well.

I'm at that point now where I know why i'm getting all these weird symptoms so i'm giving it my all to never use porn again. Everything up to day 35 in this reboot was flat, i have been seeing some slight benefits here and there with symptoms. The fog kicked in at day 35 and is still here...

Yea man, I remember you too.
We have to stop. This is getting really serious because the numbers and the way it's compounding are truly staggering. We risk never coming out.
It's either that or their truly is an infection going on affecting our endocrine and or nervous system.
I still struggle with my belief because of how far down the Lyme disease hole ive gone.
I know for a fact bugs are everywhere and in everything living, we are more bug than human. It's what breaks us down and eventually kills us. Every one of us young or old. It's the cycle of life.

Either way we can't risk porn being in our lives. That part has to die.

I've heard the estimate of 2 months for every year of PMO. I don't think there's any science behind it but it seems fair to me. I'm on day 22 and I'm expecting the roller-coaster to last about 2 years. It's up and down with more ups than downs after a while though trust me. Right now I feel fucking amazing.

@James, @31shotscrazy there's a how to "succeed" link in my sig that you can check out some information with further references. Yes, the longer you were under the influence, the longer it can take. The answer with some consensus seems to be:
    • 3 to 5 years to 'cure' SA and develop proper, healthy life and relationship patterns
Not good news, no. But: NoFap is DEFINITELY just about that initial 90 day reboot, gentlemen. Get there. Get some perspective. You *will* see improvements. The 30-day challenge usually shows results, so go for it! Anything you implement to start decreasing the influence of P in your life will be for the better, I promise you and my voice is carried also by 270,000+ fapstronauts on the subreddit. All those experiences cannot lie. You are in the right place. This community will provide you support like nowhere else. Join in and contribute :)

No time to start like the present. :emoji_alarm_clock:
