Managing PMO instead of abstaining

  1. Yeah, I’ve always heard about that, maybe the Christian religion was onto something when they say masturbation is bad. A little truth in everything we find to be untrue huh, especially religion

    You can still change that, taking risks doing things that scare us may be discouraging to some, but to me its the definition of being truly alive. You only live once, best to make the best of it. Never settle for less

  3. What about the use it or lose it idea? There must be some other physiological thing that takes place after we release. We were made to mate and procreate so releasing is necessary. If we don’t use it, something may get weaker or lose its function. Reaching a bit and not sure if even true, but what do you think?

    Yep, good advice probably. I've been going to a therapist every few weeks. She is aware of this issue, but it isn't the focus. Depression and anxiety and a struggling family business that I must manage 24x7 is the bigger problem. I take my phone with me into the bathroom when I shower. I sleep with my phone by me head in case it rings at night. I never go anywhere without pen and paper. ... LOL I can't even PMO without being interrupted several times taking phone calls and then calling other people and waiting for them to call me back to deal with whatever. I remember a few years ago being up at 2am on Thanksgiving with a customer screaming at me. Then I had to deal with that unhappy camper again in the morning. I was shaking all day long, because I was so stressed and tired.

    But I'm hopeful, because CBD oil, l-theanine, and l-tyrosine seem to help me feel better.

    What about the issue of prostate cancer. I think the doctors recommend regular sexual activity for that reason.

    My counter say 8 days, and today is the first day when I am feeling frustration and fatigue and depression from the abstinence. I've been using the supplements, but they aren't fully relieving the depression and frustration, so I am not getting much done.

    O.k. licorice root extract does seem to be fairly effective for me in taking the edge off the sexual frustration and fatigue.
     
  8. Those test that they run may give a false indication because people may pay off labs to get a certain result for their own agendas. That’s what some people think, as do I.

    I think you need supplements that’ll boost your libido and make you horny a bit. Get the fire going inside and let it catch up to what you lost and to let it circulate after it’s gotten to that level

    I'm with you in the idea of not abstaining from MO for life. I'm doing hard mode right now (even though I had intercourses around day 60) but the thing I want to abstain for life from is P. That's just my opinion, but to keep MO at a reasonable level seem like the good path to follow.
    I read a lot on this forum and on ybop, and I didn't saw a good reason to complete abstain from MO. Of course, you have to be really aware of the risk to be drive to P, and it make totally sense, for a rebooter (like me) to do hard mode initially.
    I plan to restart MO after 90 days, or more, depend by my feelings. I may be wrong, of course, but I'll see how it will go by myself.
    Obviously you should avoid, during MO, detrimental thing like edging, death grip, MO while flaccid and who know what else.

    My 2 cents.

    They need to do more research. I suspect this issue is more important for older males like me. Younger males will have nocturnal emissions, but older males may not. Just like a car needs an oil change periodically, maybe stagnant semen for months and years contributes to prostate cancer. I've read a little about "prostate milking" ( https://www.healthline.com/health/mens-health/benefits-of-prostate-massage-therapy#benefits ). ... Of course that is all speculation.

    I'm not trying to win a debate. I'm just trying to exchange information, insights, etc. I agree that the research has been over-sold by the media as "an ejaculation a day keeps the doctor away".

    No, masturbating requires you to use your imagination, and in it you have to fool your brain that you are mating.

    If you werent creating an ilusion and you were actually mating, you will react to it much stronger.
     
  17. No, I’m talking about the physical mechanisms that take place when masturbating (masturbsting if you can’t get a mate, I can’t cause it’s hard in my situation) like blood to penis and getting it pumped on orgasm and all the other works throughout the body that take place
     
  18. Lol no you didn’t get my joke, I wasn’t keeping track, just saying. I don’t care about debates, I just want the truth. I believe that those tests that those claims based off may have been bias, which is not the truth. I would maybe do mo once every 6 months for my position after my year of nofap, since I’ve heavily pmo before. Animals have mating seasons, humans don’t, or at least we think we don’t

  19. While I was still PMOing, if I went too long in between sessions, (due to stress or laziness), I'd get uncomfortable twinges in my prostate that would also run up my penis (referred sensation?) . These would convince me it was time to PMO.

    However, that doesn't seem happen now that I'm on a streak - unless I let myself get aroused via fantasy.
