How does this sound? Think about it. No proof that masturbation effects you? Well what would happen if we use ourselves as test subjects?

  2. Isn't that basically what we are doing here?

The ethical consideration would be getting someone to do what they're trying to quit, just to prove to skeptics?

I'd be more interested in getting organized to work on the solution, I mean most of us don't need convincing that it's an issue so I say just go straight to what can help and understanding it. The "open minded" people who think this is some puritan prudish thing can wallow in their shallow intellectual masturbation of writing it off as high sex drive and the like. Many don't want to see evidence to the contrary (or just different from their simplistic view) anyway, they've made up their mind before the conversation began.

  4. there's literally hundreds of studies on porn that have confirmed side effects that parallel the addiction model

quote from Gary Wilson's "your brain on porn":

    "This new research includes some
37 neurological studies on porn users, as well as 12 new reviews of the literature, all by some of the world's top neuroscientists. There are also some 15 studies revealing escalation of porn use or habituation to porn (a sign of tolerance, and of addiction). Among them can be found evidence of both tolerance and withdrawal symptoms. With respect to porn-induced sexual problems there arenow 23 studies linking porn use and porn addiction to sexual problems and lower arousal to sexual stimuli. In four of these papers, there is also evidence of causation because the men healed problems by eliminating porn use. In addition, more than 50 studies now link porn use to less sexual and relationship satisfaction. Similarly, some 40 studies link porn use to poorer cognitive function and mental health problems."

    Couldn't agree more.

  6. Wait... he means that we should go back to masturbating to record the negative side effects? Ok, agreed, that would be a really bad idea! :D

It seems to me like going from fappers to nofappers would kinda be sufficient...

And even if that is not enough: we have plenty of guys who relapse, experience the negative side effects, and then work to get clean again.

I suppose he is just rationalizing a fall...

I dont mean masturbate to see what would happen, i doubt anyone would do that. I would do it if anyone just started their reboot could opt in, or even people who just got on nofap, to do the challenge To compare the quality of their daily lives with and without masturbation.

A dude on here posted an article written by a guy with a PhD, and he was mocking us and saying masturbation is good Etc.. and i was thinking.. we ARE proof masturbation is bad, lol. The guy never did research on MO, just regurgitating.

Im not talking about porn, im talking about masturbating.

  8. it says "pmo" in the title

  9. Exactly. That is all that matters. If for instance you are overweight, and you decide to exercise, improve your diet, lose weight and find you have much more energy and feel better, then what do we care if someone starts quoting flimsy studies that claim what you are experiencing can't possibly be true?

BTW there are PhDs who are actually kinda dense.

  11. Remember also : some people would still reject NoFap and make fun of it, even if you had 100+ scientific papers and articles proving PMO to be addictive and unhealthy. Some people prefers their own chosen prison over having to face their addiction and changing their way of life.
I mean, all scientists know cigarettes are bad for health, but does that stop people from smoking ?

People with phd etc.. are usually really smart people. But there is a lot of controversy and politics behind MO, so if the phd dude never did any research or studies on MO, or at least give out proper evidence, it doesnt matter what he says.
