"Now I don't know, but I been told It's hard to run with the weight of gold, Other hand I have heard it said, It's just as hard with the weight of lead."--Grateful Dead New Speedway Boogie Smoke 'em if y'got 'em, gents and gals. Share, and share alike.
"My window opens on your heart Yet shadows divide our worlds with loss The light setting, in the corner of my room Isn't enough, but is it for you? A melody that trails and falls, yet never fully blooms Plays like an old song That’s just out of tune Why can't you just break free? Is it the heat dreams, that fevers brought you? These old shadows (they're just shadows)" Shadows by Future Islands. This whole song is amazing, but the just shadows part when Debbie Harry is singing just rips me apart.

I found them at random on YouTube last year, the song "Like the Moon" and have been listening nonstop ever since. Some of the best written/sung songs I have ever heard.
I'll have to listen to each song here. I'll make it a deal to do so while I do my Chinese homework on weekdays!
I don't think that one day really relates to the next day in life--Neil Young So it's not a song lyric. But it's a quote from a singer/songwriter. I need to think this way in so far as making changes in my "programming."
Here's two lyrics from Julien Baker Appointments Nothing turns out like I pictured it Maybe the emptiness is just a lesson in canvases I think if I fail again That I know you're still listening Maybe it's all gonna turn out all right And I know that it's not, but I have to believe that it is Turn Out the Lights Say you wish you could find some way to help Not to be so hard on myself So why is it easy for everyone else? I'm not always like this There's always tomorrow I guess
Some depressive, yet real thought type stuff, that. Good posting! It's kind of thinking out loud lyricism.
Yeah, she used to be an alcoholic and drug addict and wrote many of her songs while in recovery. I think she's 2 or 3 years sober now. I find I can relate to what she sings because she doesn't brush off hopelessness. But it also gives me hope because I feel like I can relate to her pain.
In this case then, I'm sure you're quite familiar and acquainted with the talents of Elliott Smith. If not, you will be now
I know some of his music but have never really gotten into it. Julien Baker appeared on Song Exploder to talk about the making of Appointments. I don't know if you listen to Song Exploder but it's worth listening to. It really shows how much work goes in making music and makes you appreciate the songs more.
"it's not how you play the game it's if you win or lose" Ozzy Osbourne I don't know " My heart's trivialities are the world's sole realities" Meat puppets too high to die
