Why do people on here want to quit Masturbating and Orgamming completely along with porn? When I joined here 11 days ago I learned a lot about the bad effects of porn on the brain but I’ve always thought masturbating was good for you.

It’s a stress reliever, it can calm you down and relax you. I get that people can masturbate to much I used to be one of those people.

Isn’t it better to just cut back on it not cut it out of your life completely? In my opinion once or twice a day is ok anything more then that is when you have a problem.

As an addict you wanna kick the lot, I tried the whole use my imagination thing, but it's the same and normally it leads to porn eventually.

It’s the same how? I’ve jerked off twice today without porn and don’t feel any cravings or urges to keep doing it today.

I once set out to quit just porn and masturbate whenever I wanted usually to stop the urge to watch porn. That was my longest streak. 115 days without porn. The "chaser effect" seemed to have missed me. But the downside? I don't know if would be the same with others. But personally, I didn't make as much progress when quitting just porn as I did quitting just both. After ending the 115 days streak. I found that for example my brain fog had cleared at day 9 quitting both when it took over two months and still persisted till day 115 quitting just porn. I felt extrovertive on day 9. This started day 30 sth with masturbation and wasn't consistent. I don't understand the science, but leaving masturbation in the equation seemed to slow down my reboot considerably. That's why I'd advice you quit both. Though, it'll be harder.

I’ll keep that in mind but it still was your longest streak which I feel like still counts for something

  6. Not the same, no. And NoFap, ironically enough, says it is not specifically anti-masturbation. The problem for most of us is that we cannot unhook from porn and porn thoughts without quitting masturbation. I include myself in that group.

In the distant past, I used masturbation as a way to prepare myself for an actual relationship, and it worked, to some extent. I trained myself to delay an orgasm. However, even pre-internet, porn and being attached to masturbation was a problem for me, because I used it to keep true intimacy with a women at arms length. When internet porn came along, It was kind of a disaster for me, due to the rapid stimulation response over and over again with different women, the essentially free cost, and the ridiculously easy availability. So for me, due to wanting to be real with everyone in my life, I cannot use masturbation as a retreat.

Yah that’s one of the big issues with porn is that it’s free and easy to get. One habit I can’t seen to break is that I enjoy posting my masturbation vids on porn sites. Thanks moraflecker

Be very careful with that. I once got a 42 day no PMO streak and decided that I would masturbate with imagination once every month to control testosterone levels. This very quickly turned into a full on porn binge spiral that I have only now come out of. I ended up in a relapse binge for 4 months because I thought I could control MO. Please learn from my mistake.

  11. It may be a stress reliever but that also goes for porn, most people use that and masturbation together as an escape of sorts. To me I don't think it's necessary to do it every day especially twice, as you have multiple and better ways to relax such as meditation, warm baths, exercise, etc.

And people stop masturbation alongside porn since they've been both used together for years, it's hard to separate the two from each other and usually delays progress and can result in relapses for others. I'm quitting as well to give my brain a break as masturbating keeps flooding the brain with dopamine.

It’s true there are other ways to relieve stress, and masturbating multiple times is most likely bad. But I truly think if you can do it without porn it’s a healthy act

Sounds like you are seeking excuses to masterbait, when I relapsed I started first with masturbation, but then fell back into the porn trap. So if you think you can masturbate without going back into porn, then good luck with that.

I agree. People on a forum for porn-addicts and porn-recovery are biased when it comes to the topic of masturbation. It's as simple as that. Despite all the rants against masturbation which you have on the forum, the only good reason to stop masturbation I've heard so far is this: abstaining from all kinds of sexual activities and arousal is beneficial for rewiring the brain of a porn addict. So it's about abstaining from masturbation for a certain period of time (f.e. 90 days), not forever.

I guess I thought if I just abstain from porn for 90 days it’ll do the same thing in rewirring my brain

I quit because it was destroying my life. I was in a depressed and euphoric cycle like bipolar disorder but only in those short bursts of PMOing. It was brutal after 3 straight years of it. Everybody is different and their experience will be too. If you dont experience what I do now or something similar its only a matter of time (years sometimes) until it catches up with you (your brain will reach an imbalance of chemicals because of this PMO habit). That imbalance of chemicals is hell, man. My best wishes on your journey my friend!

We’ll some of us are in relationships, so we can still achieve orgasms through intimate times with our partners.

  18. I was actually addicted to MO before being addicted to P, and from my own experience I can say masturbation is a completely useless activity. It’s never helped me become a better person nor has it helped me manage stress better. It was an escape, like P is an escape, and like all recreational drugs. I’ve done all of these things and all they’ve taught me was that I’ve wasted precious time on meaningless shit.

Sorry Chris I feel like my question was selfish I just assumed everyone on here was just addicted to porn and not Masturbation Orgasm as well.

I hope you can forgive me for being inconsiderate.
