Hello everyone, I just came across this awesome forum.
Let me share with you a bit of my story.

Well, as many guys, I started masturbating when I was about 12 years old (I'm 18). It took me a long time to realise what I was doing, I mean I didn't know there was a name for that. At some point, I started getting alone at home, so watching Porn was quite easy. This is something I regret, because I wasted so many afternoons, so much time stregthening this bad habit. I'd feel frustrated and sorry for doing that, but nothing changed. I'm not a heavy user of Pornography (to be honest, it became boring very soon). However, I end up using my imagination to encourage it. Long story short, I kicked off fighting it after a couple of years. Unfortunately, it happened always the same thing "some visual triggers, thinking about it at night in bed, doing it".

Thoughout the time, I recognised some of the triggers, so I was able to deal with some of them, for example using a tightier underwear at night and not looking too much to certain body parts of women. The most successful battles took place last year, when I managed to stay sober for about 2 months (February - April). Still don't know how and why, maybe due to becoming friends with a girl -- despite being very attractive, she wears 'decent' clothes which don't turn me on and I do respect her a lot. Well, I set my self a rule at that time: I could do-you-know-what just 2 times a month, and in return, my streak would keep going. It goes without saying that I was lying to myself. If you are an addict, there is no such thing as "I'll do it JUST this time, and then I'll stop forever". Each time I did it, I was kind of hurting my brain, streghtening an enemy and lowing my self-esteem.

Everything relevant said, I'd like to say that I'm feeling much more confident now. Because I got to know this community of people who face the same problem as me. I know I'm not alone, and this helps me to keep going. It's difficult to tell other people that I masturbate, especially when you don't know them well. Yet I wanted to do this, 'cuz I think recognising my weaknesses is the first step to stop fapping, once and for all :D

Jomo and Roady, thanks for the reception and encouragement :)
By the way, how do I start a journal? I also think it'll be a good idea to share my progress/struggles.

  4. Hey @ApprenticeInWar ,

I'm just a normal ordinary member. No moderator super powers and no special insite. I share my ESH (Experience, Strength and Hope) of what works for me.

Just another warm welcome and a heart felt hello. This community has helped me so much.

What worked for me was "working" it. It took hard work for me to complete a hard reboot (No pmo) for 120 days, then move into a Sex Positive mode.

First, reading the literature published by NoFap itself along with reading journals.

Then, doing the work. Writing in my journal and replying to introductions and other's journals.

Finally, but not least, getting involved with the fellowship. I found it on the forums, but also in people's profiles. The forums tend to be longer posts, where the profiles tend to be more "conversational".

That is what has worked for me. I like to remind myself that this community was here waiting for me with the lights on when I arrived. Now, I have to do my best to be there when someone comes to the community.

For me NoFap is 1/2 program & 1/2 fellowship.

Click on these people and post a "hello" on their profiles.

I've found that the bricks that hold this community together are cemented with the support of the members of the fellowship.

One of the ways I got involved with the fellowship was by reading some really great journals. Reading other's stories with their victories and even defeats is a big part of my program.

Once you open a journal, click "Watch Thread" in the upper right of the page to get alerts when new posts are made. Here are just a few:
