Very close to recovery (probably already PMO urge free)

Wanted to put a post here to maybe send some positivity to those who struggle.

After over 100 days of no MO, it all looks like I am already healed. To clarify, I did not watch P for something around three years when I realized it messes up you brain but I was not aware I need to do a proper reboot. Therefore, I continued MOing (once a day) continuously for about two. I did a 125 days reboot and then after I relapsed (I MOed in the hope it would all magically return) and then continued MOing for several months. Then I decided to do a proper reboot and here I am today.

What I really did differently (as I said many times before in my posts), is that I absolutely turned the fantasy off in my head. No thinking even of real love sex, let alone some hard core banging. In my second reboot, symptoms were very hard (insomnia, lack of energy and such). Even fantasy releases dopamine and such an action releases too much dopamine that prevents you to heal. Funny thing is, my first reboot was considerably harder to go through; this is due to fantasy, which causes increased urges.

Why do I think I am getting healed? Well, my penile sensitivity is coming back while urges are completely controllable (believe it or not). I did not regain full sensitivity and my wiener does not get 100% erect (I am getting like 60-70%) but it is much better then before. The negativity in my head is disappearing and I am enjoying everything more.

So the point of this post is to convey that recovery is not only about how many days of no PMO you get, but also how hard you go in your reboot (i.e. whether you cheat with fantasy and sub-P).

p.s. just a month ago I though it would take me at least 6 months but now full recovery will come faster, for sure

  2. That's great! Please remember that once freedom is earned, vigilance must remain so that freedom is maintained. As for me, I'm one of those 'relapse is not an option' people. It really paid off, for I can handle any urge or turbulence that comes my way now. Going through the worst of the withdrawal symptoms was hell on earth and I'll be damned if I ever go through that again! The feeling of despair and 'mental suffocation' was not fun, day after day. But the degree of withdrawal pain equals the degree of addiction. I had no idea I was so deep being so enslaved by PM! Lessons learned, bridges burned, as they say.

This! I think I am free from addiction now but I am going through PAWS. The negativity prior to change from PMO to normal was beyond me. Yes, I need to stay vigilant but I think the worst part is over. Like almost pretty much everyone here who struggled or is still struggling with recovery would not have gone through PMO path if we knew of the consequences beforehand we would not have done it. Now that I know what problems it raises, I will make sure I do not slip again. Life is getting good and I plan to maintain it and later improve it.

Out of curiosity did you also go through PAWS when you quit porn 3 years ago but continued to MO? If so which was worse?

Honestly, I do not remember if I had any PAWS three years ago because I both work out a lot and continued with MOing. Not until current reboot I did not know that my mood swings were mostly due to the porn addiction - I did not recognize them before, I thought it just part of my character. The worst PAWS came in my second reboot but things are much much better now and I do not wake up in the middle of the night or before alarm clock. I can say I am addiction free but I still did not fully recover (some PIED, not getting consistent morning wood and not getting full size erection). It will take time, which is fine.

@GottaMakeIt How long into your second reboot did it take for insomnia to stop and regenerative sleep to resume?

I think it was at around 100-110 days but I cannot tell for sure. Keep in mind it also depends on your addiction - the more addicted you are the more time it will take. It so happens because you lack dopamine and by doing things that interest you + eating healthy foods + working out (especially HIIT from what people say) you will reduce that time.

See your primary care physician and request an Iron blood serum test along with the following:

    • Hemoglobin and Hematocrit are tests are performed as part of a complete blood count (CBC). A low value for either test indicates that a person has anemia. Iron deficiency is a very common cause of anemia. The average size of red cells (Mean Cell Volume or MCV) and the average amount of hemoglobin in red cells (Mean Cell Hemoglobin or MCH) are also measured in a CBC. In iron deficiency, insufficient hemoglobin is made, causing the red blood cells to be smaller and paler than normal. Both MCV and MCH are low.
    • Reticulocyte count. The absolute number of reticulocytes (immature RBCs) is decreased in iron deficiency anemia but will increase to normal levels once iron therapy is received.
    • Soluble transferrin receptor (sTfR). This test may be used to detect iron deficiency anemia and distinguish it from anemia caused by chronic illness or inflammation.
    • Zinc Protoporphyrin (ZPP). Protoporphyrin is the precursor to the part of hemoglobin (heme) that contains iron. If there is not enough iron, another metal, such as zinc, will attach to the protoporphyrin instead. The amount of zinc protoporphyrin in red cells is increased in iron deficiency. ZPP is sometimes used as a screening test, especially in children. However, the test is not specific for iron deficiency, thus elevated values must be confirmed by other tests.
    • HFE gene test. Hemochromatosis is a genetic disease, found primarily in Caucasians, that causes the body to absorb too much iron. It is usually due to an inherited abnormality in a specific gene, called the HFE gene, that affects the amount of iron absorbed from the gut. In people who have two copies of the abnormal gene, too much iron is absorbed and excess iron is deposited in many different organs, where it can cause damage and eventually organ failure. The HFE gene test determines whether a person has the mutations that cause the disease. The most common mutation is called C282Y.

I was just wondering, what is the point of this post?
