What stopped me from relapsing after 49 days

Ever since I quit porn and masturbation seven weeks ago, life is good and keeps getting better, no matter it's ups and downs. However, I adopted some bad habits ever since I quit.

In the beginning of my journey, I had many goals I wanted to accomplish when I quit P.M.O. I wanted to go to the gym three times a week and get back in shape, do my favorite hobby (which keeps my mind off sex and women when I cannot have it) and read more books.

Instead, I have been spending too much time on social media : Facebook, Tinder and other dating sites as well. I also spend a lot time on Nofap.

The last few weeks, I find my days as cashier in a supermarket very long and boring. Though I still find women attractive and desirable, my erections are smaller. I do not know if it's due to PIED, lower levels of testosterone and lower libido.

Because of this, out of curiosity and boredom, I was ready to masturbate in the shower and reset my counter to zero....But I didn't .

What stopped me? Well i'm going back to school in a few weeks. It is going to be an intense four months and once I am done, a great job awaits me with a great salary. If I masturbated and came, I would be stressed out and anxious again. And P.M.O. would have taken a lot of my time and energy away from my studies.

So August is here, and it is going to be another hot month. The girls will look sexy and tempting as always, but I had this in control 49 days ago, I have the will and capacity to focus my energy on better things that will broaden my horizon instead of diminishing it.

Starting now, I will leave Tinder for I will not have time for it. I will still visit NoFap when I need to because this is the best support group I have ever known, even better than A.A. But I will be on less often because it started becoming an addiction as well.

I have one week of vacation left as well, so before starting school, I will hit the gym, read for fun, spend time with friends and do the things I like. I will also quit social media for a while.

The lesson here is when you quit P.M.O. be self aware of your habits during your journey and make sure you make good use of your time, because spending too much time on Social media is just as bad as P.M.O. Well almost. Happy NoFap my fellow Fapstronauts :)

Very well done, always nice to see posts like this that champion success while also being self-reflective, with the lessons you've learnt here I think you will go far, good job!

I can relate to the social media thing, is very easy to fall into the trap of using it as a crutch, and while it isn't as bad as PMO, it can become addictive and is definitely a waste of time. What I have started doing is visiting those cheesy "wholesome" subreddits, the ones that have videos of random acts of kindness, animals being cute, that kind of thing, instead of just browsing the Facebook newsfeed or reading the never-ending arguments on Twitter. I have found that it helps somewhat as it can cheer me up while also somewhat taming the social media compulsion, while also posing no risk to my streak. As long as it doesnt take up too much time you could be spending elsewhere, it can be helpful in a way, although its still a half-measure.

Regardless, congratulations, and good luck with the rest of the streak!

Well done! I agree with you, when we are on the recovery road, we start look for any excuse to get a similar Excitement hit from tinder, social media or regular movies.

Thank you AtomicTango. That is good advice. I notice that cute animals can help ease the temptations. Whenever I am tempted to google nude women doing explicit things, I look at a few pictures of puppies which I find soothing. :)

Well kingpietro, that was the point I was making, that I wasted a lot of time on Tinder and Facebook, but no more. You would have known this if you would have taken the time to read the whole thread.

I mean I kinda get where you are coming from, but they arent really the same. They might be a waste of time but I dont think on a biological level they can mess you up as badly as porn can. Regardless, cant we just be happy for the guy getting to 49 days? Thats an achievement in and of itself dont you think?

Actually tinder is. it learns you no social skills to get woman. its just a hookup site.

when i used porn sites there where lots of tinder adds when i was watching porn.

    tinder = hookup site

no real effort to get sex.

Thats why i don't take people seriously when they say they met each other through tinder

I'm not defending tinder, and neither was OP, this isn't what the thread is about. All I'm saying is that theres no need to take a massive dump on the guys success because you personally dont like a phone app he used. With this new post you're starting to sound like you're just mad that people have found a way to get laid more easily, to this I have to ask why it affects you and why it even matters. I personally dont like dating sites or hookup sites either, but at least I dont go into other peoples just to demean them and their success.

i am not envy of his success after reading the full post i would say good job. I just have a prejudices everyone uses facebook or tinder are shallow withouth reading his post i posted something I see that now.

However i still thinx my point about tinder is correct every person on nofap should avoid it. So my tip to the poster avoid tinder its just a porn site.

    Sounds
Sounds great man, well done. I'd advise against tinder as well actually, does no good imo. Can get you excited to the point where you quite possibly turn back to porn. And regards the girls on the street, no harm in looking but it doesn't mean you should be going home to M. Sounds like you've loads of great habit and incentive there bro...keep it up!!

You are referring to the beginning of your journey that you had these goals. How is it going right now? Are you reading more and going to the gym? :p I'm just curious because I want to do the same but I found it hard to create this new kind of habits.
