For 174 days I'm abstaining myself from PMO. Not a single drop of sperm in 174 days, until now.

After I've returned from vacation my libido has been at its peak, yet I have no urge to PMO. This morning I wake up at the limit of orgasm. It happened before but I always woke up before ejaculation. But this time it was a bit late. So about a second or two after I woke up, I ejaculated. I never experienced a wet dream in my life before, so it was kinda shocking for me.

I'm not feeling down or anything but since It was the first time, I don't know what to do. Is ejaculation necessary in a persons life? If any of you stayed in hard mode more that I do, I would like to have some advice on the need of ejaculation; for I started to think it is not healty for the body (not ejaculating for this long).

    Thanks.

Men's need to ejaculate varies by person. One man may have a wet dream every week, another every few months, and another perhaps never. Don't worry about it! Your body will release as often as it needs to.

You don't have to do anything to manually ejaculate. Nocturnal emissions are known for millenia. In the Holy Bible, it is said that a priest wasn't allowed to ejaculate in any way a certain time befere a cerimony. So he was kept awake by his family to prevent ejaculation. From that we can tell that yes, it is still semen loss, but that it is also a natural thing that doesn't really depends on us. He wouldn't be guilty if it happened at some random time because it was something out of his control, in certain way. But before a cerimony it would be wrong. In your case, just try to not ejaculate(that is, if you want to keep going and your question is only whether this is healthy or not, and not something you don't feel like doing anymore) and if your body happens to release don't worry.

I’ve not yet been to where you are, so I have no personal experience on wether it is needed or not. But people who dedicated their lives to spiritualism, monks, ascetics, etc have lived through lives without ejaculation, and they were fine. So I cannot imagine it being unhealthy. Unless we fantasize about sex all day, play sex in our minds, and then try to avoid physically cumming. That feels quite uncomfortable, and I assume is unhealthy, next to impossible not to eventually release. But I think the theory that says “as long as you don’t fantasize or build up sexual pressure, then there is no need to release anything” is quite sound.

About the wet dream, could it be that you saw a lot of hot babes in bikinis and such during the holiday, due to why your libido just went on fire, and your mind and body had to release it somehow? If so, I think it is just the bodies natural response. I noticed that I’m drawn to release once I start to ogle too much, or make up images and scenarios in my mind.

    Congratulations on the 174 days!

I'm sorry the wet dream happened. What do you think caused it? Did you change your diet while holidaying? It's said that a lot of carbohydrates, especially white sugar, can make it happen as can caffeine, chocolate etc. Also sexual fantasies, looking at porn and edging. Did you do any of those things? I hope not!

BTW if it concerns you, you could buy a preventer. You've been lucky enough to wake before any sleeping arousal could lead to ejaculation, until now. Those devices wake you up as soon as you get an erection while sleeping, which means zero chance of accidental emission. Monks and some priests have used them for many years with great success.

That sounds like a great way to mess up your sleep and make you tired! Healthy men have a few erections each night, so that's interrupting a few sleep cycles, which isn't particularly great. I don't know if the constant decrease in sleep quality is worth preventing a rare emission.

Maybe, though I'd guess after a few nights of interrupted sleep their bodies would adapt and the erections would end. Plus from what I've read those preventers are extremely painful so probably that would be a powerful deterrent.

Thanks a lot for your answers.

Now that you have said it, I suddenly understand the reason. It must have been the diet and intense activity.

I normally follow a very strict diet, low on calories and low on carbs, and for this I only eat foods that are very rich in nutrients. But in holiday I was overly active and couldn't find the foods I normally eat, so in order to not lose muscle I ate loads of calories and eventually carbs. I even forgot the taste of refined sugar. I still lost some weight but the effect of the sudden change of my diet must have caused the intense libido.

I do not make up fantasies and scnerios, for 174 days I have been through loads of challanges so I learned how to deal with the mind. So I can easily say that this problem is not caused by the mind. For a week I felt very, very intense libido; and almost no dirty toughts. Almost like there is a volcano in my navel area and it was in desperate need to explode. It seemed to have something with the body, I never experienced a thing like this.

Now that everything is back to normal, (and after that ejaculation) I feel stable again. I have no intentions of quitting NoFap, for it has changed a lot for me. It has become my lifestyle.

Again, your answers are great insights for me. Thank you all, and good luck on the journey!

That's interesting. My diet is carb-heavy (too much pizza and pasta!), so that might contribute to my urges. I also don't do low calorie, but intermittent fasting. Caloric restriction might cause your body to put less energy into hormone and semen production. How do you maintain muscle on a low-calorie diet, without just having your metabolism crash and feeling lethargic?

Anyone have experience on low fat vs high fat? Low fat tends to make me irritable and increase cravings, but I was wondering how that might affect urges.

I'm not on a high fat diet but rather a low car, very low GI one. Eating a lot of protein, exercising a lot.

I do eat carbs on the days I work out heavy, on rest days and light work out days I eat very low carbs. In weekends I maintain the calories. I do have to eat loads of protein to maintain muscle, and being low on calories plus being a vegetarian it is quite hard. That is why I follow a very strict diet. I think it is because of the caloric varience between days, I do not feel lethargic.

Wow, high-protein and low-carb is definitely hard on a vegetarian diet. Are you a lacto-ovo-vegetarian, lacto-vegetarian, ovo-vegetarian, or vegan?

That caloric variation is probably important! The body likes homeostasis, and quickly adapts. Constant caloric restriction lowers metabolism.

Have you noticed any improvement in your moods with a low-GI diet?

I'm sure I get enough fat in my diet, but I should probably eat less carbs and more protein. I probably need to exercise more. I have a relatively active job (retail stocker), but I could probably use a daily walk and some calisthenics in addition.

TBH I've been eating that way for a while so hard to compare. Still get strong temptation to masturbate or have sex with random guys, especially at certain points in my cycle.
