    Hey all,

Much of my struggle with PMO is purely from the ease of availability, and I've been trying for years to lock down my Mac so that it's not a constant source of temptation. I thought I'd share what I'd done already, and see if you had anything else that worked:

    1. iPhone - I set up Parental Controls and limit Adult Web Sites and then assigned a random restrictions code and FORGOT it. I can't get into it to save my life. That's been the only real blessing here, and the occasional blocked site is a small price to pay. The phone is now the LEAST of my worries.

    2. Much much harder on the Macbook. I have tried OpenDNS (with layers of password resets), Content Barrier X and Apple Parental controls, and all solutions are either insufficient or limit the usability of the computer too much.

(Content Barrier X cant do much with secure sites, and all tube sites are secure now, so it doesn't really block anything - Apple Parental Controls is only mildly effective, and often blocks secure sites like my bank or Amazon, and Open DNS can get around with any VPN)

I've even tried to reset my Admin password to something random, change my user account to non-Adninister, but eventually I need to update software, end up having to log in as Admin, and it's PMO city.

It's like an alcoholic who can drink without evidence, it's insane.

Does anyone else have some strategies that have worked to give them a reasonably usable laptop while reliably blocking most or all P?

    Thanks,
    Mr. Ed

i used k9 and then switched the email to someone on this forum that was willing to help me out. so if i click forgot password i cant do nothing. just make sure you are careful to make sure you can still access the sites you need which aren't p before doing so.

    Self control buddy.

Been on my phone practically 6 hours everyday for over a year. It's by my bed when i sleep, the first thing i check (for time) when i wake up, in my pocket all day long and the only thing i look at when bored. And sure i've relapsed many times, but never have i ever used porn.

It's self-training buddy. There's no end to passwords and locks and restrictions. It gets absurd later on.

I agree with @IAmLegion on this one. You can install all the software you like. You can even get rid of all of your technology in your house. An addict in relapse will still always find a way around those barriers. The only thing that will truly prevent you from relapsing is yourself.

Uh, not sure. Figure of speech. I didn't mean anything by it.

I agree with the two posts above me. Covenant Eyes has helped me not stumble into porn but if you have no self-control, you will always find a way. It's addict behavior.

Time blockers. Make it so you can't use your phone after whatever time until whatever time. I have a blocker that blocks my phone at night

Dude go download SafeDNS put it on your router. Make a burner email and register with that email. Give a friend access to both. Have them change the passwords to both. Tell them not to tell you the passwords unless you can furnish a screenshot of true technical difficulties....Move on with your life. There are alot of people that think that willpower works. For them this might be the case. At least early on you need to go a bit easier on yourself...Also by involving a friend in this fight you are making connections. Building trust in another person. Also you might be less tempted to let someone else down. These steps have helped greatly curtail my porn and webcam addiction. Hope this helps. Good luck.
