Hi everyone, I'm kind of new to nofap and I'm doing it because I suffered from ED a couple months back when trying to lose my virginity. I'm not entirely sure whether it was porn induced, or maybe due to anxiety or stress, but my best guess is that it was caused by porn. I'm pretty stoked and ready to start nofap but my only worry is that it will have the opposite effects that Im looking for. Like the saying goes, use it or lose it. I'm hoping someone can convince me with facts, reason, and evidence that doing nofap will not have a negative affect on my sexual performance, but rather a positive one.

Yes that is true. Because of the fact that I would only jerk of to porn, then my brain only responds sexually towards porn and not to actual humans. What worries me is going for a long ass streak without PMO and then suddenly put in a situation where Im with a girl, and because my dick hasn't been used for so long, the ED would remain. I guess what Im thinking is that maybe not using it at all might not be the best thing to do, maybe moderate masturbation without binging or porn? Is there a link with masturbation and ED?

  4. At your age of 20, I'd say there is little to worry about. Men in the military go long periods of time w/o masturbation. 6 weeks just in basic training.

basically, when you jack off to porn your dick gets used to this level of stimuli so when you try to have sex with a real girl, your brain is confused and can't do it. porn is a way higher stimuli than sex because every time the clip changes or you see a new girl, you get another release of dopamine. whereas when you are there with someone in real life I can only get to a certain level of stimuli. When you have an interaction with a girl, it's still a large stimulus but if you are used to having pmo, you don't feel it because you are numbed to the feeling. once you go even 2 weeks without porn (depending how much exposure you've had) you will be having morning wood and even a girl touching you will get you hard for like an hour (sounds crazy but true). This is because your dopamine level returns to normal and you become more sensitive sexually. If this is your first time off PMO and you are addicted, it will be hard to quit and your brain will try to make excuses to make you go back to pmo.

  6. It may take significantly more than 2 weeks, but it will happen.

Not sure, but maybe what you need first is to learn how and what your penis responds to.

From what you posted, you had a single experience with a girl, it can be quite normal that things don't work as expected.

About abstinence, I never heard that it would cause ED, and people have tried it for thousands of years.

I think what I need most is time because right now my penis only responds to lesbian porn. And about the abstinence, what you said makes sense to me, but it's still a bit iffy when there are numerous "health" websites telling us otherwise and that masturbation is healthy.

So you mean that your penis isn't responding to a girl touching it ?

Masturbation being healthy is a different issue than your concern that if you don't stroke it, it won't get up anymore.

There may be benefits to masturbation. But that doesn't exclude downsides.

And it probably depends a lot how you do it. If you're doing it together with porn, it's much more problematic.

And finally ... you may need to find what works best for you. I don't really believe in "evidence" proving that all people should or shouldn't do something.

The one time a girl touched my penis i was completely flacid, however I did find myself getting semi hard when making out with girls or dancing. And I plan to never masturbate to porn ever again, just plain and moderate masturbation to thought. Like the other commentator said, I'm only 20 so I don't think 90 days of no PMO will effect my overall sex drive.

  11. IF you're going to masturbate:

Just be careful what thoughts - no porn fantasies allowed.

Also be careful of your grip - your hand can be a lot stronger than a vagina.

But if you are totally flaccid with a girl, you might want to give the masturbation a rest, too. It will speed recovery.
