  1. Anyone heard of it? It stands for National Novel Writing Month, and people all over the world challenge themselves to write 50,000 words in the month of November. This is my first year participating, and I'm pretty stoked!

  2. It was a dark and stormy night...

Sounds like a lot to me,
    but to a dedicated writer;
    a worthy challenge.

    :)

  3. First time i heard of it was through you. Sounds interesting though, good luck.

Deleted Account and Coffee Candy like this.
  4. Thanks! Itll be a big challenge for sure. Idk if I'll make it to 50,000 words, but hopefully I will at least finish the book I've been working on lately.

Good luck! I tried doing it when I was in 12th grade. I managed to write quite a bit, but gave up eventually when I realized my plot wasn't developed enough. Every year I think of doing it again, but don't - either I'm too busy, or my plots aren't developed enough. It's tough work.

  6. Yeah, I think I would struggle with it if I was working on a brand new idea, because those often take a lot longer than a month for me to flesh out. But this time I'm just continuing the book I've been dragging my feet on for about a year, so the plot is pretty well solidified by now. I'm just ready to be done with it so 8 can share it with the world.

Thing is, it wasn't a new idea. I have a lot of book ideas, but I have a very hard time making real progress in really deepening the plot...

  8. Ah, gotcha. Well I know what you mean, I've had a lot of struggles with that as well. There are so many helpful videos on YouTube, though, if you want to learn and grow!

Some of my favorite AuthorTubers are ShaelinWrites, Alexa Dunne, Julian Greystoke (her videos aren't as pretty and well lit and such, but she has a lot of wisdom), Vivien Reis, and Jenna Moreci. If you search for any writing related subjects, especially using "authortube" in your search, you will find lots of wisdom!

Thanks, I'll check them out. What genre novel are you going to write?

  10. I pretty much mostly write romance. The book I'm working on now is a sequel to my first novel, and it's about a man with a dark past getting released from a psychiatric prison and trying to start his life over and work through his past and his mental issues and figure out who he wants to be and how to overcome the stigma of being a convict and all of the bad things he's done in his past.

    Sounds interesting. ☺

  12. I tried it a few years ago and I got nowhere :emoji_disappointed:

  13. At least you gave it a shot! It's tough, especially depending on your lifestyle. Its not for everybody.

Meh, I just prefer to read people's stories online rather than "write" stuff. I read a lot. Although in high school I used to read hundreds and hundreds of history books and English books at the library just to stay away from the drama after I got in trouble with a girl for asking her out on a date at the prom. And that is how I got into porn and toon. Haha. And it made me more happier. Remember, sometimes the law can find you guilty even though it wasn't your fault without treason if you do wrong to a girl and you break up with her in a mean way. Like I learned the hard way. And now, I do not feel bad that I read a lot of stuff online and read toons and porn.

  15. Um... okay. This is not what this thread is about. If you want to talk about your own stuff, make your own thread. This is about writing and NaNoWriMo.

Sounds like an awesome challenge. I don't write much but I do draw. Recently I did inktober (basically a drawing a day posted on social media for the month of october) and didn't finish. I'm still trying to catch up which is quite painful I have to say I did finish way more drawings this month than I did in 6 months, even if they weren't master pieces. I'd love to do the writing challenge at some point just to test myself. Good luck and make sure you finish what you start.

  17. That sounds cool! I'm so impressed by people who have artistic talent. It's like magic to me. And hey, giving something a try and not finishing is better than never trying at all, so good job :)
