What are your thoughts about porn?

Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by BestVersionToday, Nov 23, 2018.

  1. Title

What are your thoughts about porn?

  2. I was looking for specifics. The "why". And not everyone thinks it's bad, some may think its okay for some. For example, a sex therapist on TV said only a small number of people have a problem with porn and that it is otherwise healthy. I have my thought but I'll share them later.

  3. Porn is a part of the human culture. It´s nothing new, it already existed in roman/greek times. Just the technique and the now overall easy access are the aspects, which are mostly still unknown territory in their longtime effects for the human experience. In my opinion porn can also have an even liberating and emanicipating effect, like it had for example for many members of the LGBT community. As I am not a fan of "no drugs!" or "no alcohol!" outrages, I am also not a zealous "no porn!" advocate. I understand that former and acute addicts often tend to argue for complete abstinence, but nevertheless I do not think that porn must be generally something, that has to be condemned or banned. It´s another big influencal entertaining factor in the modern societies and as long people agree by their own free choice to work as sex workers (and many do), I respect that too.

We have to educate people about the negatives, just like we do with smoking.

Porn like most other forms of escapism is the easy, simple, certain, and instantly gratifying way out of the reality that has no guarantees.

Tired after a long day at work and taking care of your kids? Here's a burger and milkshake for you instead of having to cook something that's healthy for you.

Don't like rejection, failure, fear, frustration, uncertainty, and the consistent effort required that comes with going for what you want? Fuck it, have a smoke (or 10) and wash it down with this bottle of tequila.

Does challenging something beyond your comfort zone that you're currently incompetent and insecure about sound like too much of a hassle for you? Why not just binge this new television series and all the recommendations to similar shows?

Delay gratification and work hard for years at something that might not work? Let's just masturbate to that new porn star instead.

Society / consumerism conditions people to become entitled spoiled brats that believe they need to be high / happy / excited / fulfilled / comfortable / certain / gratified / motivated all the time (and they feel the need to keep that buzz going). It's a hedonistic treadmill. It becomes a routine of distractions and comfort. It becomes a lifestyle of neglecting the pain, problems, and dissatisfaction that has been waiting for you to face it in order to grow as a person.

Discomfort / pain / problems / uncertainty / fear / difficulty / awkwardness / unideal circumstances / going outside of your comfort zone in order to grow as a person and live the life that you want?????????????? Why, when I can be numb / content / idle / comfortable / happy all the time instead? A lot of people don't have an important enough reason to give up that routine of comfort and distraction. What could possibly be more important than our own self centered happiness? Well, you're in luck, society has made a system to give you your deepest desires through a click of a button. All you need to do is give up on reality.

  6. I'm gonna differ with most people on here, I don't think porn is bad or evil. I think it's just a vice. Simple as that, me personally I use to not want to induldge pmo because of religious convictions which my friend Raku quite funnily illustrasted in his ongoing story regarding the VI PMO War https://www.wattpad.com/566004677-chronicles-of-the-sixth-pmo-war-chapter-5-day-2

Though since I've matured I realize it's not bad just not something I want to participate in. For my future wife I want to be authentically hers, not someone who gets off to other women, nor do I want to set the example of a wanker older brother to my siblings. Instead I just see it as an unnecessary thing that wastes time from my overall purpose therefore I have been working on discarding it completely I slipped today and am going to make this next streak the longest yet :p

  9. I see it as an opiate. It's a stimulant and a sedative in one.

Just the idea of PMOing is very exciting. Just thinking about doing it makes the day brighter.

During the deed it's like surfing in the sun. Feeling alert, alive, happy. As if I were achieving the things I had always wanted.

After holding off for as long as possible, trying to soak up as much sun as possible, orgasm comes and it's followed by a purple haze. As I, numb and tipsy, sit in the haze, a little voice whispers to me, "What you're doing is okay. You are perfectly okay."

    But
    • I want to do it again and again and again until the whole day has passed and absolutely nothing has been done in those 16 hours.
    • Every time it's slightly less satisfying than the last time. To combat this, others change genres. That has (fortunately, I think) never appealed to me, instead, I spend more and more time browsing than viewing, bombarding myself with novelty. I believe this has contributed to my erectile dysfunction with real women the most.
    • Sometimes the idyllic experience is disturbed when thoughts like these appear out of the blue: "FAKE", "LIES", "THIS IS NOT YOU ON THE SCREEN", "THE REAL YOU IS SITTING IN YOUR ROOM ALONE WITH YOUR DICK IN YOUR HAND". The last things I'd want to think.
    • After PMOing 6+ times a day, I feel tired, lethargic, unmotivated for days. Ironically, the only (temporary) relief I found is fapping/watching porn again. It's just like curing hangover with more booze.

I don't want to deal with all this crap anymore, but it's so difficult to stop the self-destruction when you've started.

I'm usually against censorship but if I never were to discover pornography, I would get to spend those vast slots of time and energy on things that are important while having a much better attitude and a working knob. And that would've been really good.

I personally have qualms against it, but for lack of a better term, alternative reasons. I see it as escapism fantasy.

Porn was a massive contributor in my children growing up with divorced parents.
I fucking hate it. I fucking hate disorders, addictions, denials, girls, cams, internet, phones.
    Thx for asking :)

  12. People need to stop digressing.

Porn: It is something hideous, something cancerous and something to stay away from. Like all evils, it exists and people are free to do whatever they want to. (If they choose it, they better accept the results and punishments that it deals out too without blaming others for it.) One can only mind one's own business and a rational being will never fall for porn.

  13. I don't think it's good.

I think it objectifies women (and men).

It devalues sex, which I now see as something that should be a beautiful meaningful thing that two people that love each other do. Now days sex has no meaning. (I must be getting old)

    I think it degrades women

I think it causes people shame and guilt.

Then there is the effects on the brain. Watch the video on your brain on porn, its basically no different to a drug as far as addiction

It takes away the pleasure in life, as drugs do. I see suicide is common on this forum. People don't get any pleasure out of anything else and don't want anything, thinking they can be happy with pleasures when its relationships that will make you happy, not sex.

And DAAAYM! I just tried to post you that video on youtube and k9 web protection blocked youtube.

    Ban it... Israel style.

  15. It is banned. At least for the U18 population. But most of us have seen hours upon hours of that crap already by the time we've reached adulthood.

For someone, this is a way to relax, but I think that it is rather a harmful weed for our society. Especially my opinion, you can not support it
