for some people, masturbation might be a bigger problem than porn

Discussion in 'Abstinence, Retention, and Sexual Transmutation' started by Deleted Account, Dec 2, 2018.

  1. i have already summarized my reasoning in my original post.
read it before making the comments.

  2. maybe i won't be able to go the 90 days but people who give up both porn and masturbation don't go the 90 days in first few tries either. so ur argument is not quite right.

  3. i wont be replying to any posts questioning the reasoning behind this experiment (as i have already laid it out in the first post) or saying that it can't be done (that's what the experiment is for dumbass ! ) or that it won't have any good effects (as that too remains to be seen ). so if u have anything to say along those two lines, do everyone a favour and DON'T.

  4. I all for experimenting and seeing what works for you and why you are here. One thought I have is, what usually drives you to masturbate when you don't have P? I usually find if I have sexual thoughts bouncing round my mind too much it will likely lead to M, maybe not straight away but maybe that night or the next day. Is there a possibility that watching P might be encouraging those thoughts that might return to you later when you may be more vulnerable.

Either way we are all experimenting and trying to figure out what is going on in our brains/bodies/spirits. So good luck, if it doesn't work try something else.

  5. I've done "streaks" where I've occasionally looked at porn without masturbating. I usually had to strongly distract myself after viewing it.

In my experience, those were low-quality streaks. You get more benefit from doing a much shorter, but stricter streak. Another important thing is to learn to avoid the chaser effect.

  6. Ive read your opening post... have fun than.

  7. day 2 about to be completed in a couple of hours.
i did watch porn today but in absence of masturbation easily got bored. i need to complete some math assignments so i wud try my best to not watch porn for atleast 2 days as porn reduces my mathematical ability.
hopefully the urges won't be too strong.

  8. I think that as you start to find porn boring, that will be a good thing. It will (if you keep it up) lead to stopping porn altogether.

That will give you an entry into doing a 90-day reboot.

I'm hoping that this will work for you, because that would be interesting! I know that it wouldn't work for me. It leads me to unhelpful thoughts, exactly as Balbur suggests.

  9. Porn became boring to me, when I stopped watching it. This is like trying to stop smoking, but carrying a pack of cigs with you and randomly putting them in your mouth and NOT lighting em up... Makes no sense no matter what perspective you try to look at it. I will observe out of curiosity tho. Good luck

  11. this is what we are all essentially curious about. Sorry, Captain Sparrow, you have not answered that question in your first post. We are all dying to know.

As for masturbation is worse than porn, that is certainly true because porn is usually just used to stimulate masturbation. I don't see masturbation per se as a problem, but for example, I masturbated 8 times last Monday and then I felt exhausted and I wouldn't have been able to have sex in the evening. That's bad in my book.

  12. Just watching porn makes you numb, he knows it as well, he said he cant do his math properly... well try to do a woman properly, and you will see the same results. Maybe than you will reconsider this approach, Captain :p

  13. actually i did answer it. u should read the first post carefully. here it is -
i am finding it extremely difficult to quit both. so for now focusing on the one which i think is more detrimental. ofcourse, like i said in my first post, i will quit porn too eventually.

  14. day 3 no masturbation

alot of important work to do today which requires high level concentration. so, will try my best to not watch porn today at all.

  15. ok admitted. You mentioned this. You will excuse anybody here who does not get why one would watch porn without masturbation.

Seems your focus on school and the fact that porn reduces your ability work is the best thing you've got going for you. Maybe this is just what you needed to experience in your own terms how it affects you and will give you more willpower to quit both.

  17. day 3 almost complete.
did not watch porn at all today not even pictures of gjrls in bikini or other revealing outfits.
had alot of energy but was quite unproductive and just did the bare minnimum with regards to studies.

  18. This is good! Well done. See if you can keep it up.

Finding it hard to do your studies is unsurprising, because you're changing your habits, and your brain will feel a little confused. Just keep at it, and it will pass.

  19. day 4 no masturbation

looked at some pics of nude women before bed last night. by nude pics i mean a nude woman sitting on a beach or posing for the camera etc.
it does NOT mean a woman having sex.

  20. In context, it still counts as porn.

May I ask: how does looking at porn help you?

I ask because, for me, it stimulates me, leaving me frustrated, vulnerable and more likely to relapse. I'm curious as to how it affects you.
