    Dead Cake,

Per Dave Grohl, we need to keep our s--t together in order to survive in this universe full of life.

    Agreed.
Just keep your shit together; works wonders for the psyche & catapults that positive energy into the universe.

I read a great book this summer. It was an autobiography by a brilliant philosopher & brain surgeon. He was on a quest to find the meaning of life via a scientific & philosophical standpoint. In his early 30's, as he was beginning to rise in his neurology career, he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. He wrote the book as he battled cancer & one mantra he used to repeat to himself in times of weakness was "I can't go on; I will go on". This has stuck with me from the moment I read it & I repeat it daily. The next couple of days I'm going to have a lot of 'I can't go on' days. I will get my shit together & remember, 'I will go on'.

The best. I have a hard time deciding if I like them or Pearl Jam better...

  4. I met all the Foo Fighters in an instore concert at a Best Buy on their There is Nothing Left to Lose tour. They all signed a flyer that I have framed. He was a super nice guy. Very patient with all the audience calling out Nirvana songs for the entire set. He also smashed a guitar.

I rage approached Jarod Leto on tour with 30 seconds to mars as he signed posters for paying people. I was not one of those paying people. Something in the 5.0 water made me gutsy & I went for it. I said hi. That was it. Just, 'hi', & walked away. No signed poster.
Not one of my finest moments in life, but it sure the hell makes me giggle now. :emoji_sweat_smile:

Also, you should read Heavier than Heaven by Kurt Cobain & Scar Tissue by Anthony Kiedis. It's incredible how all of the big names had influence on each other; behind the scenes.

  6. That sounds cool. I read a book on Pavement, Moby's Memoirs (dont ask me why) and I'm working through a Steely Dan book I got for my birthday. I think I'll grab those two as well!

I get Steely Dan & Stevie Ray Vaughan mixed up every sing time, with a side of dire straits. They are all 1 in my head.

Yes, get them! I've read them both at least 5x each.

    Enjoy, Max :)

I just noticed I wrote "Dead" Cake instead of "Dear" Cake last night.
The mega hot wheels race track I put together last night had me all sorts of frazzled & I clearly had one hell of a Freudian slip.

    Happy early Birthday, Jesus.

  9. Dagny rose to the occasion to build her train as did you building HWs track for your little people. :)

Pretty interesting part one of Atlas Shrugged, to date. The individual responsibility aspect was refreshing.

Your identifying with Dagney is impressive.
May your Henry be your equal,
be it a recovering Spouse now
    or in the long run
or something not yet seen further down your track...

    Feliz Navidad all.

Poor Hank; a story that rivals mine.

When my real life Hank finds me, we shall take on the world together & build all of the railroads in protagonist bliss

I hope Santa leaves you something nice, my friend.

I saw him in 2009 at Coachella. I forget what band was playing at the time, but it was one that drew everyone in the crowd toward the stage. I had to pee so I went to this kind of long, empty tunnel made by rows of port-o-potties. When I was done there was only one other person and he'd just finished doing his thing. We both got to the handwashing station at the same time and stood across from each other, a few feet apart, and I could see it was Jarod Leto. I didn't say anything and neither did he. My phone was turned off because I was trying to stretch the battery over the 3-day event, so I didn't even bother trying to get a photo. It was just this weird little moment that happened and then vanished.

Do you ever feel like Requiem for a Dream is happening in your real life?
What are the odds of meeting someone with a really random Jarod Leto story.
At least I said hi ;)

She said, I don't know what makes me more upset; what he did to you or that I'm going to die and you'll be all alone.

She is finally talking. She know's it's getting closer. For her honesty, I am grateful.

That's all I wanted for Christmas; either her or my husband to have no fear & be honest in their current states of being. Mom came in clutch, per usual. Husband, still MIA.

    Merry Christmas, my motley crew

  17. Dad is missing out on his kids.

    You are fortunate
    to have your three kiddos
    as reason and motivation.

One good parent is such a gift.

  18. Watched the rest of Atlas Shrugged with SO.
With constantly changing actors in each of the three parts, it lost a lot of the continuity.

You should be Dagny in Pt4?

Seems like Hank was her equal
    and best supporter.

    Yet she chose Gault?
    Book likely says more.

In those days, with communism running rampant,
Running from it and socialism made sense.
Today maybe countering it makes more.

    Interesting presentation.

My SO liked the first Dagny,
Because the actress was beautiful, strong
and smart. The last actress was too frail,
    Or not charismatic maybe?

Dagny was always looking for Galt, even when she was with Hank.
She trusted the universe & went with her gut.
It was kind of her to leave him, as she'd never been fully present in the relationship with Hank because she was longing for her true soulmate.

Isn't it funny how the psyche can formulate opinions strictly based on another's physical attributes?
While pregnant & thinking of names, my list with mark-throughs was rapidly growing. Every name I liked, I knew so-and-so who did such-and-such & looked a certain way, so the name became an automatic negative.

Yes. Find me an agent ;)

  20. OK, the book probably sorted that out.
Gault was a more approachable figure,
    unmarried,
    with an inclusive vision;
what one does in a business,
might not work with a partner?

Worked on a few projects with a stepfather businessman
and found him detailed, efficient and demanding
    for great results.
That might be hard to live with,
but he was so generous in the home.

    Maybe you are an agent?

Its funny looking at kids when young and
how the same they look when older.
    Kids with old family names,
can I see that family member in the younger?
    Is there something at work,
that you see that spirit in the child
enough to use that name again?

    If nothing in the movie,
it was interesting to see Dagny
    attempted by different three actors.
