Lifelong porn addict - fighting the fight

Discussion in 'New to NoFap' started by payooli, Jan 11, 2019.

  1. About 15 years ago I knew I had a problem and went to Sex Addicts Anonymous meetings. I had a streak of like 60 days which I recall was quite wonderful, and then out of curiosity as to what effect it would have on me, I looked up some porn and relapsed. Big mistake, as I have never seen that length of abstinence again. In fact for the last 15 years I did not even try to quit anymore.

Recently I discovered "Your Brain on Porn" and through that book learned about this community. Read the book, thought "yeah now I get it!" Since then I have had THREE 10-day streaks, the last of which just ended about 30 minutes ago. Something about that 10 day length is very tough for me.

welcome. you can also consider starting a journal / log to keep up with your process. it usually helps a lot. you can also look for an AP (accountability partner).

I am also relatively new in this and hope best for you. Don't forget that your are not alone and we are a community with similar challenges that we faced in our lives.

  3. Thank you for the response. Just knowing I'm not talking into emptiness is reassuring.

I'm looking forward to learning about this platform and how to get the most out of it. Just signed up to receive the e-book.
