Instead of Porn, Do (BLANK)

    Guys I am struggling hard to quit this terrible porn habit. Admittedly, I have tried to quit many many times this past 6 months, yet I always seem to end up relapsing in a moment of passion or justifying going back somehow in my head. (only to massively regret immediately after release)

    I feel as if my own mind and body are turning against me sometimes, but I guess that is the destructive nature of addiction.

    I've been told by mentors that I need to replace the destructive habit with more positive habits. Daily actions and practices to improve my life which I enjoy doing and will gain satisfcation from.

    If I take away something that my mind thinks is good, I leave an empty dark hole where it once was, so I naturally need to replace that chasm with good, wholesome things in order to not go back.

    So what I need from you guys is for you to write in the comments some positive habits and practices that you've incorporated into your life in order to completely crush your porn and masturbation addictions.

  3. yes you are right, you don't just stop doing this, you have to find something to replace it. I've been told that you need to replace it with something that is equally as satisfying if not more. At times I struggle with that because the feel good feelings of that when you're in it are hard to match.

    However, creating good habits is the key to beating this. Also having many things to choose from is key as well as making a plan.

    So first, find many things you can do instead of that. There's exercise, going for a walk, riding your bike, going for a run, going pretty much anywhere. There's just so many thing you can do but the important thing is that when you have that urge that you don't stand still and try to fight it with your mind. You need to TAKE ACTION and move, get going and get away from your environment if you can.

    Say for example every time you had an urge you took off running. You'd soon change that habit and it would be the first thing you would think of if you did it enough times.

    That might not be available especially if its 2 am. You could do pushups instead and take cold showers.

    They key as I said is to change your internal state. Your body needs to be shocked out of its current thoughts. You brain is not capable of doing this alone. Sometimes it is but its easier to use your body to change your mind.

    Those are some things you can do in the short term, emergency mode.

    For long term you do need to find somethings to do if you've alot of free time.

    Work on creating many things so that you don't get bored.

    Work on creative things and physical things. Have a variety of stuff to do so that when you get bored, you can switch to something else to keep you occupied.

    First, find something that excites you. The hobby you've always wanted to get into or never had the time for that sucks you in so you forget about everything else. When you are tempted to look, just look up this hobby instead.
    Second, do something physical. Go to the gym, for a run, or clean up your house. One of the best is not just removing your stash, but destroying it. If you just remove it, you might go back and get it, but destroying the material gives you another mental edge, and prevents you from using it so much after you got rid of it.

    Third, find what the cause is. Porn is not just the issue, it is a symptom of something deeper. You are using it for a reason ( loneliness, sadness, depression, stress) and you need to find another way to deal with it. Figure out when you use it most, and why and start from there.
    Also tell your friends and family and ask for help. I know that sounds scary. It was for me. It gets more natural. Internet help is fine, like you are going to classes to learn how to beat it, but real physical help is the experience and motivation you need to beat this. When you feel tempted, meet up with friends or talk to your family, and most of all, don't be alone. Wait until they leave or until you forget about the feeling. Porn keeps us alone as one of its tactics to keep us hooked. Fight that urge too and build community and support to lean on in your worst moments.

    Some example hobbies are woodworking, origami, painting, singing, writing, just any crafts or anything that seems interesting that you can do at home. ( I do woodworking and tool restoration. All you need is a block of wood or stick and a knife and you can make beautiful things)

    Physical activities are going to the gym, visiting museums, hiking, running, swimming, driving even. Anything that either shocks your body or moves you to another place for a time allows you to flee or fight temptation.

    All this is similar to meditation in principle. Meditation stills the mind by focusing on parts of the body ( such as breath) until the mind is quiet. When your thoughts run off, you bring them back to the body. A lot of beating porn is mindfulness about yourself and your habits that lead to porn. Whenever you are pumping iron, if you think about PMO, pump more iron until it hurts. If you are folding an origami crane and think about it, focus on how each fold makes up the whole, and the texture of the paper, then make twenty more to keep you occupied.

    Be vigilant, courageous, and most of all mindful against this. Anyone can beat it. Especially you.

    Put your heart and soul into one thing one thing that matters you the most can be anthing for me its exercising. You can try anything that can fit the above lines that u enjoying putting your heart and soul into.

    i do the same as before..just that I dont have to worry about "should I watch now porn, which one, always the same o gosh so boring, no one loves me i dont love anybody, I can't do that".

    hmmmm I read here about cold showers, so maybe will give it a try, but beside that.. yeah I'm tryna "be more lovely", you know, before I was like come on you are shit and boring, I am depressed leafe me alone.., but nowadays I am thinking about being more calm..maybe have a good kiss or just enjoy people, dunno I also just started and I am kind of a psycho so maybe not the best help
