    Hi all,

I ve been at this for a while, and my next attempt will be my fourth official attempt.

    My problem:
    - Every 5-7 days of not PMO'ing and not MO'ing at all, I get this huge urge at night.
    - This happens after I have gone to bed.
    - It usually happens 1-2 hours into my sleep.
    - I wake up, and try to go to sleep again, but I just cannot.
    - The only way to sleep again is to have a release, either through PMO, or MO. Either works.

This is driving me nuts, and I really want to deal with this massive urge.
It is keeping me limited at 7 days max. I want to hit 90.

    Please help.
How have you overcome something similar?

I've done my reboot in two different stages. I quit PMO first. I stilled MOed a few times and then quit that. I only PIV to O now, no more PMO for sure not matter what! I would feel way worse PMOing than MOing. I don't think you should beat yourself up (sorry for the pun) over MOing in your bed to go back to sleep. But you should try and go one more day each time or set a goal not to. Instead read a book, a real book, not a back lit screen because those can keep you up due to the light. But a real book will make you sleepy, and certainly no computer!!! They keep you up for sure and are way too much of a temptation! Good luck and keep strong, I know you can do it.

  3. So, you don't sleep for a night. Then what? You'll be tired next day, but I'm sure you'll be able to go to sleep without MO-ing. If not, then you spend another night awake. The brain will switch off sooner or later, just make sure it doesn't happen while driving. But I'm sure you'll be able to sleep before that happens.
After the first night so sleep without MO-ing, you'll know that your brain just plays tricks on you. Don't fall for it.

Agreed with Earth Dragon. Other addicts experience similar reactions to quitting, everything from drugs to gambling to online gaming. You just gotta ask, is one sleepless night something worth doing to achieve your goals?

I used to go days for dungeons and dragons sessions that refused to quit, I know you can make one all-nighter. Go for a run, do a puzzle, read a book, paint a picture, play guitar. You can do this.

    Thanks Man.
The book idea occurred to me as well. I think it might work. I have actually started buying books as opposed to downloading them. So real thanks for the suggestion. I am definitely trying this. I am also gonna throw in a few push-ups as well, so I get tired. The only thing I am concerned about is thoughts of PMO while reading. I guess I will have to push my mind into the book fully.

Thanks for the tough-love input man.
This is hard pill to swallow, but I guess it must be done. I have done all-nighters in the past.
The only issue is: that my mind will be super slow at work the next day, and I won't be able to hit the gym.
But the thing is if I do PMO, my mind will be slow as well, and I will not feel the motivation to go to the gym, and I wont even have the energy to go to the gym, the next day anyway.
So the next day might as well be a sacrifice, but for the right reason, which is not giving in to PMO the night before.
Because, if I PMO the night before, the next day is sacrificed anyway, along with my streak, along with my super confidence and wit and intelligence that I had gained by not PMOing for the last few days.

So the price to pay by giving in to the urge is much higher than going without sleep for one night.

    Thanks again.

    Thanks.
Wow. This is new. I didnt know other addicts felt like this too. I feel like a junkie when I wake up at night with cravings/urges. This is addiction.
I definitely like the suggestions. I can meditate, read a book, do push-ups etc.

These counter-measures have to be adopted and carried out. Otherwise, I will never be able to push throught my 7-day mark.

This is part of the process. Push through it.

When I quit smoking almost every night I'd be unable to fall asleep. If spend many nights sitting in my porch, praying, watching people walk by, thinking about life. Eventually it went away and I could sleep again.

Seriously it's not going to be easy. But it's worth it.

If you're wide awake and don't want to read, consider doing some mindfulness meditation. This is something I picked up a few years ago when dealing with some anxiety/depression/rage issues and now it's part of my life. I know it is helping me with my PMO issues. I could recommend some great books on how to get started, or there is plenty of information available online.

    Stinky635 and The Eleven,

Its actually very comforting and motivating to know I am not the only one with this problem.
Honestly, this is a revelation for me that addicts coming out of addictions have sleep problems.
You guys are right. It is tough, but it will have to be done.
Also, gonna include meditation in my combat-PMO-cravings action plan.

    So far I have:
    - Push-ups
    - Meditate
    - Read a book
    - Draw/paint/play music etc. (I draw)
    - Force myself to lie in bed, and let any thoughts come.
    - Suck it up, and just push through it!
