If you've watched GoT up to season 8 you should know what to expect. Also if you get triggered into a relapse because of GoT you were bound to relapse either way (because you've never changed your opinion about porn) and it was just a matter of time.

Thanks for warning those who watch or want to watch the series. A bit ironic taking username into account though. :D

And I'm just letting you know that your focus is off if you're trying to avoid "triggers" like GoT and that it's going to take you much longer to beat your addiction if you don't readjust your focus.

My approach is simple. I cut out porn and anything with obvious sexual content.
However, I am not going to stop living. I am not going to build a shelter around me where real life can't touch me out of fear for porn.

I wouldn't watch stuff like 50 Shades of Grey (even if I liked the genre - which I don't) simply because this is too much sexual content.

However, if there is a tv series with 1000 minutes content of which is 30 seconds sexual, then I will not stop watching the whole thing because of it.

I am not going to completely tailor my life around evading porn or anything that may or may not contain porn.

Maybe that's the wrong approach or means that I will take longer.

I am not seeking erotic or sexual artifical stimulation if it however, unfortunately happens once I will not lose it over it.

I don't want to be a monk, I want to be a normal person.

Please elaborate what you mean with focus. I do not understand.

    I may misunderstand you.

From my perspective, what you write may either mean:

    1. Don't watch GOT because sexual content.
    or
    2. Don't mind about the minor stuff that happens in it and get your focus away from it's sexual content.

    I mean 2.
When I say wrong focus it's because there's a mainstream idea prevalent on this forum which is basically saying that you can get rid of your addiction through abstinence and avoiding triggers. And that's simply wrong.
I see your attempt to warn people about a sexual scene in a series which isn't porn but a fantasy series, as a variation of that trigger-avoiding culture.
I do not support that culture because I think it's none-sense. People don't relapse because they get triggered, that's a lie they tell themselves. Just like you are lying to yourself when you say that you're not acting out of fear when you warn people about a sex scene inside GoT.
The truth is you don't trust yourself and neither do all the others here who install porn blockers, deinstall Instagram and get frustrated about our oh so sexualized society.

The reason why you're having a hard time ridding yourself of this addiction is found in the subconscious beliefs that you hold about porn. Your addiction is literally like a personality inside you that has it's own views of the world and it's own beliefs. And it's beliefs aren't in line with what you want for your future. It's that sub-personality inside you that makes you relapse, "triggers" just wake it up. But it's awake most of the time anyway! The problem is that you believe that this monster inside you is right, even tho you may not want to admit that. Every now and then you let it have it's way with you because parts of you believe in it's world view which is basically "fuck it! let's have some fun!". You've reinforced that worldview hundreds of times with each orgasm.

So when you're attempting to avoid this and that trigger, you're not actually addressing the root cause of your problem. That's why I say your focus is off.

If GoT can trigger you and others into a relapse, then so can a sexy add in a magazine, or a poster, or a Youtube video, so the problem isn't the outside source, the problem is that you are triggerable period.

Once you understand down to your bones that the monster inside you actually has no valid points, that it's been selling you cheeseburgers as steaks for 200 bucks a piece, quitting porn becomes EASY. Every time the monster perks up you can dismiss it like it's nothing and you're free to watch GoT.
But as long as you believe in it you are it's bitch.

our beliefs align for most parts then.

    however,
people with a single digit day count are by the very nature of the addiction more triggerable than people further along the nofap road.
I do not see the harm avoiding any erotic imagery or stimulus the first few days of recovery.

Nope, it has nothing to do with time. I repeat it has NOTHING to do with time.

    Once again to write along..

IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TIME!

It has to do with understanding gained through self-reflection until you really click.
You can be on Day 270 and be way more behind than a guy on day 4 who finally figured out how his inner demon thinks.

Stop giving a shit about triggers period. Set your focus inward.

You ask what's the harm in telling people to avoid some GoT?
It's a distraction of your focus.

Of course I'm not holding it against you, I know you mean well.
