Has anybody completed a FULL reboot and fallen back into PMO?

Everything is in the title. This is out of curiosity, if somebody knows a thread where the answer is, or if a thread like this already exists, let me know. Peace.

Muchas personas seguramente. Esto es una adicción. No sé cura, solo se detiene. Hay que trabajar todos los días un poquito.

What do you mean by "full reboot"?

I mean full reboot as in the person has completely beaten his or her porn addiction (like 500 days + people) and who one day fall back into it after years of quitting. Its like they get addicted a 2nd time.

Then that's me. My longest spell of sobriety before joining NoFap was 22 months porn-free. Then I had a binge evening and fell straight back into my addiction. It definitely gets easier to resist the further in to the reboot you get, but we need to stay vigilant, forever.

Prior to those 22 months porn-free, you were severely addicted? And once you fell back into it, were you just as addicted as right before quitting?

I don't know if I was severely addicted, I've only got my own experiences as a reference so I cannot tell how much others genuinely struggle. But yes, it has been a hard slog. NoFap (the site) did not exist when I started trying to quit porn in 2010 and I was so relieved to find it in 2016.

I wish I could find the thread because I had a discussion with another guy who'd broken a two year streak. He'd dipped his toe back in the water—he'd tried porn just to see if it had the same hold. It didn't but of course once he'd done it once he did again, and again, and again. My relapse was not like that. I was on a work trip (always a difficult time for my sobriety), I was stressed (another trigger for me) and I went for it. Hour after hour of edging to porn. I wish this was not true but I loved it. There is nothing like the pleasure of going back to something you are captivated by after years away. And after that I was straight back into the addiction. Worse than that because I felt helpless.

But long-term it taught me useful lessons: don't be complacent, pay attention to your triggers and take action to mitigate them, be careful about the pathways that lead you closer to a relapse, etc. although it wasn't until I found NoFap that I was able to start reflecting and putting all these pieces into place.

Thanks a lot for the answer man! And now do you have trouble reaching long streaks away from PMO? I completely understand the fact you loved it after two years, its like the first time we watched porn, we found it incredibly great, even though its one of the common things that ruins your life the most.

Since finding NoFap it is not streaks but streak. The support I have found here has really turned things around for me, so much so that I have not relapsed since I joined in October 2016. "Trouble" is not a strong enough word though. The first year was very hard, and I almost relapsed after 450 days. But I'm feeling much more on top of it now.

  10. I was a 25-year active addict to PMO. I quit for nearly 18 months. After a very stressful interaction with family members, I went back to P for comfort. I was back into PMO for the next year. Not as bad as it had been previously, but still right back to where I could not shake it easily.

I am now rebuilding and have learned better how to deal with stress in life. I have almost eight months with no PMO, but I reset my counter today because I am also wanting to avoid P-subs 100%.

Good job man! Wish I could be like you lol. No matter what, I'm extremely motivated and I'm gonna take each day as if it were the most important one. Good luck to you, and hey, you aren't allowed to relapse after that much time! Keep living a great life, never get back to PMO, life is 1 million times better without it. Peace.

I have said it many times on this forum, it was the PSUB's that got me every time! I had given up hard core porn at least 3 years ago but reverted to the M addiction due to PSUB's. The other habit that I have to fight is creeping Facebook profiles of say people at work or vendors to look for talent that way. Seems innocent but it can get one back into old habits. So as everybody says, even after my full reboot (this is my first attempt), I will have to careful for ever. You see in my previous attempts to give up the addictions I never gave up M, and that is what I am hoping will cure me this time.

  14. I had never given up M in the past, either. My 18-month streak was just no P; I still used MO on occasion. Quitting MO last fall turned out to be relatively easy (I think I was prepared for it after the 18-months of no P), but the desire to feed my mind on "pleasant imagery" has been harder to defeat. Once more unto the breach!

Personally, when I MO, I try to think about my girlfriend, or at least about things that are as natural as possible, and not fantasies. Obviously its easier said than done.

  16. The girlfriend in your head *is* a fantasy, though, yes? The reality is that it is just you alone in a room with your hand. But that's not nearly as picturesque as the lie we let play out in our minds, is it?

Lying to ourselves is the lesson we learn first and deepest. It is the hardest to overcome.

  17. Wow! All of you are amazing. Great post. Very inspiring. Thanks ppl for still being here to encourage us noobs.

Well it is a fantasy because I imagine it, but then I do have a girlfriend and the things I think of are real memories of things that we did together. I meant that I try not to think about porn scenes. That being said, its still masturbating, and my goal is to avoid that (though porn firstly). Peace.
