Detoxing the mind

  1. I'm on my third ever no porn run (3ish months now with the record being 8-10ish months), so my next step would be, how do I clear my mind?
    This is very self explanatory, but I have the most problems when jacking it in the shower.
    any tips on what to do?

  2. Take cold showers.
    It's not as not inviting to stay in the shower and fap when you're just trying to get clean and turn the water off 'cause it's cold.

    my concern at this moment is what do I do when I've got some stiff joints from work?
     
  4. bro I do PMO before and I have never done it when I was showering. Not everyone fap when they shower tho

    What do you mean, you couldn't keep taking cold showers? Have you tried contrast showers that alternate hot and cold? Were you having stiff joints during the time you tried cold showers? It isn't clear to me how this connects with the original reply.

    Side note for anyone doing cold, has anyone tried ice baths of any kind? Even just the face for the mammalian diving response?

    No worries, I wonder if the shower problem is strictly mental though, I mean on some level it has got to be physical and biological too. I'd always want to deal with it on all possible levels.

    I think you fap in the shower because the shower is closed it gives you that privacy and your mind says its ok because no one is looking its like your own secret , well its defiantly that you cant endure being alone without fapping in the shower so just take quicker showers 3 minutes or less hit the hot spots and go! use cold water I personally don't have that problem so I use hot water or just DONT fap have some mental TOUGHNESS and think about the demons you face will you allow them to win that battle again ?

    Or check this out: Only shower at the gym. For that matter, you need to join a gym and work out so it ends up serving two purposes.

    Its mental for sure its about enduring that moment of being alone and comforting warm water no one is looking no one will know ill start over tomorrow and any other excuse the brain can come up with to be comfy . its all inviting its for sure a set up by the demons in your mind saying its ok you can fap ...WRONG. its be strong endure or be a quitter . frankly

    You should associate pain with fapping at least for 30 -90 days think of all the negative side affects you will get once you fap and know that when you do it that’s what you become
     
  13. While the negative reinforcement (pain, cold showers, etc.) can be helpful, they are also really short term.
    Why are you doing this in the first place? Ultimately you have to face that question and it can be a really scary place to go alone.

    Think of
    i believe in thinking of fapping and porn as a painful experience rather than pleasure because it does feel good but is it worth it ? To me I spent thousands of dollars on it felt shame felt socially unacceptable messed up relationships loss sleep ,missed out on doing other guns stuff and worried from this habit I use all that as a reminder of what will happen if I start fapping to porn again I want to emotionally be afraid of doing it again and fear it like when you touch fire your brain associates pain to touching that stove again because it was hot your brain won’t want to get near it again !

  15. so I wound up jacking it last night- not in the shower but on my bed, and it was a satisfying experience. Probably happened because I had too much sugar yesterday. I tried to do it in the shower this morning, but didn't finish. I'm wondering now, is masturbating once a week going to inhibit my goal of clearing my mind?

    Looks like your mind is looking for comfort I would watch out that’s dangerous they say comfort kills I should know I come from a military background try some challenge get your mind use to handeling stress try some harder gym work outs longer runs and keep a log so you can keep track and do more everyday

    pre climax was the best I've had in a long time, climax was disappointingly below average.
    I will keep trying though.
    If I can kick porn, can I kick masturbation? I want my full brain capacity back.

    That's pretty cool you did 102 days without porn ! big props, how many days have you gone with out fapping ? From what I learned rebooting happens after 30-90 days or longer! I noticed this morning a big aha moment why I was not feeling alive the past few days because I wasn't taking my goals seriously ! its a mindset like a HUNGER ! and transformation is what drives me to quit porn , even though I relapsed I relapsed because I wasn't not clear about what I wanted I know I don't want to fap ever again to porn I know I want to not orgasm for at least 30 -90 days so the more clear I get the better but I was not clear about porn so I relapsed by watching it after a few weeks . The key is being clear about what you want . if you want to quit fapping make it a 100 day goal for example along with not watching porn. Another good idea is to take action on those goals every single day . Taking action might mean setting goals for taking up new positive habits. An example will be you want to run a marathon , by setting a new positive habit this good thing will start to starve the negative habit. Running a marathon requires times , energy , gear , discipline, mindset, journaling, clean eating , visualization , practice, etc . The way to find new positive habits is learning and growing , and making those two values a priority. Soon you will develop a habit to find multiple ways to get around a situation , leave from things you no longer want in you life or be develop a relaxed/calm mindset until the right answer come instead of panicking and then running away from life.
     
  20. My non masturbation record is just over 40 days (43 I think, possibly a little bit more), as it was my 2016 new years resolution to quit porn and masturbation. the Porn only lasted six months. I think caffeine and work stress played a major part in my falling back on masturbation.
    Right now I'm working on not jacking it in the shower. I've also got other life things to fix as well.
    Plus, my non porn record is 10ish months. I'm thinking about trying to beat that record.
