    Hello forum,

I know, that my question might sound really weird to you guys, but hear me out.

Although I do watch porn videos, they are not my main issue. My problem are stories. And pornographic stories are a huge part of my life. The reason for this is the following:

I'm a writer. I've writen pornographic stories for years. They are what I am. Whenever I feel bad, I just continue writing my story. Because my work consists of a few short-stories and one very long one, these characters became my closet "friends" in a sense. Writing this story is my life. I can't just drop it. It feels like burning a lifes' worth of passion and hard work. I have so many good memories about writing these stories.

How would you attack the problem? Help is appreciated.

  2. If you are paid to write them, then you have a real problem. But I doubt they are your main source of bread and butter, and writers need to be flexible - you don't just write porn stories, do you? Nothing else?
I'd get rid of all of those stories. They are not what you are, believe it or not. I must admit I get pleasure from porn, otherwise I wouldn't look it at it, but it is a problem. Not only should I not look at it, just thinking about it causes me problems. It's easy for me to say, but you will be happier when you free yourself from such stories.
To be honest, my priority today would be deleting all of those stories and throwing any hard copies of them in the trash.
Sorry, but you really have no choice.

I'm not what you would call a professional writer. I started as a hobby one day and just wrote stories about my own fantasies. With time, I became better and started to share my work with others. Nowadays, I do make some money with my stories.I do not make my entire living out of my stories, but it adds up. I would struggle without the money.

I guess I could try to write something else, but because I evolved out of my pornographic stuff, I'm not sure if I'm capable of writing other stuff. As I said, I'm not a professional writer.

  4. You can read my story in my journal if interested. I quit a lucrative 20-year career in IT and became a low-paid plumber's helper in order to quit PMO. I still make only a fraction of what I used to. I am married and have children.

It's up to you to determine the price you are willing to pay to break free. If you are a longtime addict like I was/am, the price may be high indeed. But what other choice do really we have?

It would be hard to you to leave these characters, because as you said, you have a relation with them so your emotions and soul are involved, is like cutting a realtion with a girl you like, and it hurts, but is your choice to leave that and live, and discover all the other thins you are and what you can do!

  8. Switch to recovery lit! Contact advocacy and outreach organisations and submit your quandary, your desire to change, but your need to support yourself through your work?

Write other stuff. Regardless what your subject matter used to be, the more you write, the better you get at it. I'm also a hobby writer. Sure, the transition would cause a temporary slump in money, but I think you'll be able to find a new direction in the writing business. Just keep moving forward.
