    There seems to be an idea among some here that as long as they don't orgasm while watching porn, they are fine. I understand the place you are coming from but you are missing some things about how dopamine is released in your brain. As it is true an orgasm releases a lot of dopamine, so does just watching porn, masturbating or not. And for those that say I watch it but it doesn't turn me on so no harm. I just have a question for you, why are you watching it then? If the answer is because I naked women or whatever your into, then it is turning you on. You may just have so much desensitization that it doesn't seem to effect you much, that you know of.

    Dopamine is what is released when you are turned on so when you are watching porn or something that turns you on, it is sending out dopamine. So it is essentially damaging you while you are watching videos or pictures that turn you on and doing that for long periods of time, whether you orgasm or not. Gary Wilson wrote an article about this, somewhere on YBOP website, which stated that watching porn with masturbation or not and not having an orgasm can be worse on two levels. First when you orgasm the dopamine stops being released because the body has a sort of shut off switch after orgasm. So dopamine is has being released and the dopamine that was released gets reuptaked back into the brain so it doesn't mess with the dopamine receptors anymore. If you don't orgasm the dopamine is basically just bouncing around in your brain, doesn't mean that you will stayed turned on but it isn't good. There is another problem also, that is worse. When you keep getting close to orgasm then let it subside and keep repeating that, sperm can crystallize and has possible links to prostate cancer. There has been study's that show younger and younger men have been getting prostate cancer. It happened shortly after high speed internet came around.

    Sorry for the long post but these are things that you need to know. The more knowledge you have the better.

    TRIGGER ALERT:
    @nitsuj0786

    I know you are deathly on to something, there is a ongoing movement the last 10 to 12 years in the industry to push what is called an edging, there is the misconception that it involves physical contact to be accomplished. As you so eloquently mentioned watching does release dopamine and effects the brain. But there is an industry design now to push that the limits, I basically creating a hands-free movement and overload. I've seen the material that I'm speaking of and is way beyond intense. And left you completely out of the loop brain wise for short amount of time. I can say it is totally not worth it at all.
    My self was always the instant gratification guy. I didn't spend a lot of time watching as much as I did PMO and being done with it. But there was a moment when I did look at this new fad that I saw people using about 10 or 12 years ago. It's at the same time I used electro-stim to make everything disconnect. Talk about unhealthy for the body, it was complete overload and not necessary for any means to be done.
    Not that PMO is necessary, but what you are describing goes way above and beyond exhaustion of these brain cells. People are not aware, or they choose not to. That methamphetamine, does the same exact thing to your brain that simply watching does. It slowly releases the releases and releases with no end in sight. An exhaust the dopamine to the point there's nothing left. There are met that accident become so desensitized a can not even have certain emotions such as laughter or sadness.

    It's not the same as drinking, and going to a bar and looking at alcohol. Not touching something generally in addiction solves the problem. If you're a gambler and don't gamble, you're pretty much done. If you're an alcoholic but don't drink you're probably pretty much done. However due to the deep hormonal nature of our bodies and how we view the opposite sex and those triggers that engage cells in our brain and releases chemicals, are way different and as you mentioned do not shut off into you shut them off, or in some cases if people are watching so much they may deplete it all together to the point of possibly no return or possibly years of recovery.

    A little over a year ago I just over three months the first time in my life since 1980, and what was once a daily occurrence now is about every week. That is not justifying or excuse making. But I also know that my levels are slowly coming back to where they were even having this huge amount of break every week. I seldom view material if ever, I simply pick and choose and download a move on and save it for a later day. Often doing other things at the same time but still beating the addiction.
    I can see it slowing down for me personally but can see looking back 10 or 12 years ago at my pinnacle probably of the addiction it was horrible. How I felt was beyond messed up. Confusion would be there at times, it even felt like I had pre-dementia or Alzheimer's. It gets that fuzzy and messed up when you start damaging the brain cells and depleting your chemicals as you mentioned. I went percent support what you mentioned I only wish more people would understand what it really does your brain. Thank you for posting that you did above I can only hope more will listen. Unfortunately I do see mainstream adult material coming out to push those limits even more and more. And that scares the hell out of me that other people might actually have to go through what I did.

    Thank you for reading my post. While I don't think porn is inherently evil or malicious in new technology through videos or actual gadgets, such as VR, they do know how to keep people hooked. I took a long break from the site but I want to post more to help people who want it. The main thing I want is for people to at least have the information.
