We should not blame others for our pmo issues. We need to take responsibility for our own actions.

Something I sometimes see here is people blaming their pmo issues on others, on society, on certain ethnic groups etc.

These claims may or may not be true, I'm not here to argue about that. Whether these claims are true or not, is actually irrelevant.

We need to take responsibility for our own actions. There will always be temptations to go astray. We need to strengthen ourselves to the point where we can't be manipulated into destructiveness, and we should inspire others to do the same.

This is what is within our power to do, and this is what we need to do, strengthen ourselves, and support others in doing the same.

So if you're attacked in the street you should blame yourself?

  3. If you were walking with your head down and cash hanging out of your pocket I might blame someone for being a target. Its not the only blame. there is blame to go a round

I think you have worded this in an odd way but I agree with you 100% that ONLY WE can change ourselves now.

Whoever's fault it is that got us to this point is irrelevant, ONLY WE can change ourselves to be the best we can possibly be.

    Thanks for the reminder.

  5. Maybe this could motivate you to take martial arts? Blaming the person, after it's happened, won't prevent it from happening, but at least this way you can defend yourself. I want to take martial arts for this reason. Just in case. I see blame as control and I'd rather not give someone like that control over my life.

Blaming oneself isn't very useful either.

First of all, my main point is about not blaming others for pmo issues. Where it is fully within our control to decide to not masturbate, or to not watch porn. I did not make this clear in my OP, so I have edited it now.

Secondly, I think it's good to be practical. In the situation you describe, one should first try to handle the situation at hand, try to deescalate, defend oneself or try to escape. After that, it would be a good idea to consider how to avoid a future situation like that or at least be more prepared for it. Blame would not be particularly useful, in my opinion.

  8. How is being attacked in the street and accurate equivalent to choosing to watch porn? One is a choice, one is not. Unless someone tied you to a chair and forced you to watch, or if someone was introduced to porn heavily as a child, these are not equivalent at all.

I originally titled this thread "We should not blame others for our problems..." and didn't mention anything about pmo in my OP. I edited that later since I think I was originally too vague.

So @King Og of Bashan responded to my original vague ramblings that I later clarified.

  10. Ah, I see. That makes more sense.

  11. You took responsibility for the mistake which was your point.

You must have planned this from the beginning. This is social engineering at it's finest. (jk)

I agree, taking responsibility helps quite a bit. Once you realize that it's YOUR choice to watch porn, when you know what It's done to you, it makes it easier (for me atleast) to take active steps to avoid relapse. No one is making you PMO.
