How does this community feel about weed smoking? (Also, other substances thread)
I used to smoke a lot, and I have always been very introvert and anxious (probably because of PMO) but sometimes weed intensify it. I actually was feeling great on a streak of nofap and started feeling like a PMOer after I hit a blunt. The emotions are similar, mind fog, anxiety, lazyness, etc.
What do you feel on weed? Does it help your rebootal at all? Does it make it worse?

Personally Im giving up on weed for at least a few days/weeks

¡Hola amigo!

  4. Weed fucks you up in ways you don’t even realize. It’s used in the exact same way as nofap: to provide an easy way out instead on actually facing all the issues you’re dealing with inside. It’s just like booze or other drugs, and no matter how much the media may claim it’s “safe”, it fucks up your brain without you even realizing. It literally does the same thing (relatively) as pmo or even harder stuff, such as cocaine; it floods the brain with dopamine. It’s addicting. That’s also why no alpha men use it. You’re using it to fight insecurities, but in turn it’s killing your vibe and creating anxiety (just like nofap)

Some others might be able justify its usage in their lives, but the truth is that it kills any chance of you being something extraordinary. You’ll never see an alpha man, who’s content with his own being, using weed.

I understand this is an extremely controversial topic, and I might receive some backlash for this response, but I truly do believe that weed is much more dangerous to our mental health then the media portrays it.

Wow so alpha male don’t smoke weed? If you said that to me in person I would punch your throat very hard. I smoke weed everyday and am more alpha than your timid self!

  6. That propaganda of harmless weed is pathethic for me. Although I didnt use weed excessively, only few times at a party, but I see no benefits whatsoever. I see no reason for promoting this as "cool" thing. Making you think "Ahh c'mon people, its just weed, its better than alcohol."

Okay, it can make you laugh. But you never have 100 percent sureness whether its pure stuff or no.

What is more, I used it to test whether it will help me with social anxiety. You know. being drunk and stoned. You know what?
Being sober + 60 days of NOFAP gave me 2x more benefits than this shit.
NO. Weed, if you are socially anxious, can worsen your symptoms.

Also I saw people who use it regularly, they lacked concentration, and they were just lagging. I have read that it may cause you being paranoid.

  8. Again, I acknowledged that my opinions are very one sided. You’re entitled to have your own

And for the record, alpha men don’t make dumbass threats on the internet.

  9. Amen brother. Glad to see you’ve escaped this trap. It’s always cool to see measurable results

Everyone I know personally who uses weed regularly tend to be less reputable members of society. That's why I don't even bother.

Just like any drug, in moderation it can be fine. I've known cool people who smoke weed, I also know absolute pieces of shit who smoke.
I've never tried it, so I can't speak on it's effects.

I fully agree brother. Anyone abstaining from addictions should stay away from weed too. It's definitely not harmles. I also have read that chronic use lowers testosterone and increase estrogen levels in men. To us guys that are recovering from excessive PMO we need all the testosterone that we can get.

Weed does have also hectic mental side effects. My advice would be not to use it unless it's really a medical issue prescribed by a doctor

If you're looking for one simple answer, there isn't one. Life isn't that black or white or simple. However I think there are some guidelines we can follow.

Let's take alcohol as an example.

    - Nobody should drink in excess. This is self-explanatory. Excess means too much, drinking in excess is harmful, it doesn't matter who you are, how great your liver is, or whether you have an addictive personality or not, in excess, drinking is always bad.
    - Most people are fine to drink in moderation. For most people, if alcohol use is not excessive, it will not have any real negative impact on their life. If someone takes breaks, and doesn't drink excessively, they should be fine. Notice how I said most people though, and not all, which is because..
    - Some people should not drink at all. Some people cannot drink in moderation. Take a former alcoholic, one drink can be enough to send them spiralling back into addiction, and so even one drink is not safe. There are also some people who respond badly to alcohol even in small amounts, who just shouldn't drink.

Notice how this doesn't give us a "Yes" or "No" answer to whether people should be allowed to drink. Instead it tells us, no-one should drink too much, most people are fine to drink as long as they're careful, and some people should never drink because it's a bad idea for them.

I think these same rules can be extended to a lot of other things, although the ratios of each group will vary. For example the more addictive something is, the fewer people will be fine to do it in moderation, with the most extremely addictive habits and substances, only a tiny % of the people who use them will be able to avoid running into problems. On the flip side, if you take something super mild like say caffeine, almost everyone is fine to use it in moderation, there are only a tiny % of people who have any issue with such mild substances.

I think porn for example is similar to alcohol, I mean the two shouldn't be directly compared, since they're different kinds of addiction, and alcohol addiction can also be fatal, but I think both activities hold similar potential for addiction. So with porn, similarly to anything else, excess is never good. If you're watching constantly every day, or binge watching porn, that's bad, even if you have great self-control, that's already excessive and should be stopped. Most people are fine if they watch porn in moderation, and don't overdo it - and most people out there don't. However some people, should never watch porn, particularly those who've been addicted to porn, or have other sex addictions.

So what about weed? Well I think weed is far less addictive than either porn or alcohol, by a long shot, but the same kind of rules apply.

Even though you're not going to die from smoking too much weed, excess is still not okay here as with any other activity. Overdo it and you'll suffer a severe detriment to short term memory. It'll also interfere with R.E.M sleep, resulting in poor sleep quality, and killing your dreams. You also can find that while weed normally increases appetite, when you overdo it consistently, appetite actually drops, and you end up eating too little. Not to mention, if you're choosing to smoke it rather than use edibles, as I imagine you are, it's still not good for your lungs. (Cigarettes are a lot worse for you, but a lot of people get confused and think that means smoking weed doesn't cause much/any lung damage. No, it's just cigarettes cause so much. It's not "cigarettes are bad for your lungs, and weed is okay", it's "cigarettes are a death sentence for your lungs, but smoking anything is still significantly damaging them.")

In moderation, for most people, most of the time, it's fine, like most other things. You have a joint at the weekend after a long week at work? Who cares. It's not a big deal and not going to do you any harm, and if you find it relaxing and enjoyable, go for it. Certainly better for you than getting drunk each weekend.

And finally again for some people, it's not a good idea. In your post you outlined a whole host of negative things you feel when you yourself smoke weed. You also said it's interfering with your streak. So it's my opinion that you fall into this latter group, at least for now. It sounds like at the moment, weed isn't a good idea. I'd take a few months off smoking, then if you want to give it another try in say 3 months time, see how you feel about it then. If you still find yourself mostly just feeling anxious, brain fog, urges for PMO etc, then I'd just quit for good. Some people just don't really agree with weed, just like how there are some people that always get bad effects from drinking alcohol.

  14. Thats how addiction arise. You could start watching porn from same reasons and now you ending up here on Nofap.

  15. Why we even make that narration that we need weed?
Do you really die if you wont smoke?

I will write about alcohol as an example.

Why do we really need making that social acceptance about alcohol? I think its bad because it tolerates somewhat pure pathology and addiction. Its like making a virtue from your addiction..

I dont drink alcohol, I can live 1 year without it. I can drink a lot on a party as well.

But I dont see any reason for making this a whidespreed "cool thing to do". Why? Its nothing really fantastic and you are mistaking "feeling good" from socialising from "feeling good" from alcohol. Whats difference between one drinking every weekend with friends and one who drinks every weekend alone? Stupid people would say 1st is having fun and is cool and second is miserable and addicted. When actually it can be reversed or even completely different.

I am not supporting prohibiton neither do I support drinking alcohol on every occasion. I just live without it and I dont think about it. For me its like "preffering pepsi than cola".
I am really surprised/amused when people make big eyes when I am refusing alcohol on a party for example.
Does people are so weak that they imagine someone who doesnt need alcohol as "conceited" "strong" "weird" ?
I hate when people creates social pressure and forces me to drink alcohol.
Like, stop you are actually acting rude and pathethic in my eyes.

Its not bad itself, social rules created by people makes things good and others bad.

  16. Everywhere you can find people complaining about mental problems, and people who enjoys weed but having no other benefit than "feeling stoned" (they can actually be specific percent of people for whom the action of marijuana does not matter, so their speaking that weed is cool doesnt give us a clear truth on weed.)

how does it stand to mainstream harmless magic pill which brings just milion benefits to you ?

Weed turns me into a lazy burnout dimwit. After the illusion that it is sparking my creativity and enhancing my awareness fades. What a giant facade perceiving that positive altered state is under the influence of cannabis.

Ok but I want to say people who only smoke weed vs. people who smoke crack. Just saying. So in my eyes, no just not like any drug. Not all drugs are created equal.

  19. Everyone is going to draw their own conclusions but eliminating whatever you find to be unhelpful is best. When I quit alcohol I saw huge improvement with my porn addiction but for some people it wont matter as much.

Although weed might be safe in the sense that you won't die from smoking it heavily, it will still mess with your brain and brake havoc on your willpower, drive and motivation. I have known a few people using it over the years and could only observe that they all had issues and seeked some relief through weed. They later got nothing of importance done in their lives due to a lack of motivation and have barely done so until this day (a decade later).
That temporary buzz and feeling of lull, relaxation and relief it gives is nothing but just a temporary fix of a larger problem. Whenever you stop smoking for some time, your issues don't only remain, they accumulate even more and you just dig yourself further down into that deep hole. Plus, it hurts your body, brain and mind over time much more than you think.
I hate to say this but whenever I feel the horrible smell of weed, I immediately think of pothead-losers who are wasting their time and lives, getting absolutely nothing done.
