Mushrooms for brain resets + dopamine

Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by jobbyj, Aug 5, 2019.

  1. I have been looking into Psychedilics, specifically mushrooms given they are now getting popularised for healing addictions.

    anyone looked into them?

I have a specific question ontop - given what porn does to the brain from a dopamine point of view, how would that interact with what mushrooms do?

  2. Well I work with a doctor that says some people use mushrooms for depression. But its still an uncontrolled illegal drug

  3. have a look at the current clinical trials, the results are exceptional for addiction and depression

the trials are also dont at bona fide research centres - e.g. John Hopkins, Imperial London

  4. I keep coming across information saying mushrooms like Amanita Muscaria can help anxiety and depression. But they also seem to be toxic. Would a homeopathic Amanita complex be safe to try? Apparently it's primarily focused on cramps and restless legs syndrome. Currently trying CBD which seems to have some effect so far.

Dopamine has little to do with the effects of Psilocybin Mushrooms. They interact with the serotonin receptors. Being addicted to or watching porn shouldn't affect the trip in a chemical way but as an experienced user of psychedelic I know that having a bad mindset will make the trip less enjoyable. Although the worse trips always gives the best lessons, those who use it for healing depression or addiction will have some rough trips.
They definetly have the ability to help you, I know people who have gone cold turkey on their addictions after taking 5 grams of psilocybin mushroom. You have to be ready to heal though, so if you feel that you are ready to move on from your addiction then go ahead. But have respect for the drug. Use it responsibly and prepare yourself mentally. Listen to the advice of experts and ideally have someone with you on your journey.

  6. thank you
i am going with a friend who is also exploring these things but happens to be a therapist which helps as a sitter

  7. I've researched these mushrooms a bit further. Apparently, like LSD, they seem to have eased or reversed depression and anxiety disorders in some cases. However, it should be noted that the psychoactive compounds in them are illegal in most countries.
Although rare, some deaths have occured, but mostly because of combinations with other drugs.
Furhtermore there's a risk of developing something called HPPD, or hallucinogen persisting perception disorder, after consumption, which can last many months or years after the experience and doesn't seem like a whole lot of fun. The trip itself seems to be a hit or miss for anyone with addictions or other disorders.
Clinical trials are being carried out and there's a chance a similar but safer effect will at some point be available in the form of a legal and FDA approved drug.
All in all the studies seem very promising but is it worth the risk and perhaps even legal problems?

  8. I think microdosing psilocybin might be beneficial. They are without doubt a wonderful tool for the mind, fascinating things fungi. With a comfortable set and setting they can be life changing.

  9. Anxiety and depression have a lot of causes, not sure a magic mushroom will fix your whole life for you.

I quit P&M a couple of days after a mushroom trip. After being about 3weeks clean I started to microdose mushrooms every 4 days. Happy to answer any questions people might have!

Cost is irrelevant, it shouldn’t be a financial decision. I like to play around with the minimum possible dose. If you actually want to experience the “HD vision” and euphoria then take around .3-.7 grams, that’s what I do when I go to concerts. If you want to microdose take about .1-.2. If you want to change your life completely then take 2-3 grams or more.

You’re more likely to screw your mind up then fix it. For one thing, mushroom trips are totally unpredictable.

Everyone that has ever taken shrooms haha

On a serious note, something like 80-90% of people who trip say it was in the top 5 most memorable moments of their life. Listen to the tim ferris podcast episode #377, he's as legit as it gets.

I personally watched porn and masterbated while on mushrooms, just like I did with marajuana , and MDMA . For me , I would never try it since it already has a link to porn and masterbation

  19. Broscience at it's best. And why would I listen to a person using external aid to balance out their life while I have so many examples of people doing it from within. You may choose to take offense, but a junkie is a junkie, even if he is a junkie in total control, and shouldn't be taken for his claims.
