    Hi all,
    After so many recent attacks on our forum, I was compelled to think about some solutions.
    I know that Alexander himself and other moderators are trying their best to protect us but, isn't it our responsibility too to do something to help them?
    C'mon man, if we can't help this forum in its bad times, we don't even deserve to be here at its good times.

    I noticed that the officials have stopped the sign up process for some time (which, no doubt, was the need of the hour), but it will stop new people who need help from coming to an absolutely awesome place.

    I suggest that, they should restrict people from singing up using a temporary email id, because it's too easy to create.
    On the other hand, creating an email id with registered sites requires some information, which is quite frustrating for those people who want to create an account just for trolling..
    Btw, it's just an opinion and need not to be true in all cases.

    I, now, request you all to give some suggestions for fighting with these trolls in this hard time.

    Thank you for the support and suggestions. I'm all ears. Here is some stuff I've been thinking about:
    • Disabling embedding images, links, avatars, etc for newer users.
    • Disabling private messaging for newer users.
    • Disabling other stuff for newer users.
    • One of NoFap's developers has been working on a secret porn-buster script that can back-trace images to see if they are frequently on pornographic websites. This is a long project which won't be available for quite a long time. Plus it can't protect against most "amateur"-type material. Hopefully it will fend off the uncreative attacks.

    @alexander just wanted to ask you one thing about the sign up process. is it still going on? because, a couple of hours ago, the total number of members was 40,111 and the newest member was Phillytech. but, now, it has gone to 40,114 and the newest member is jgdon..
    confused..

    Yes, I just reintroduced registration with some safety mechanisms in place. I don't want to go into the specifics yet, but I think they'll hold any trolls off for a while ;) Also, the moderation team is growing, so I think it is best to let people register since I don't want to deny help to those who need it based on one person's shinanigans.

    really nice to see that you are patrolling the forum consistently. and good to know that you've reintroduced the registration process.
    a helping hand must be extended for those who really need it..
    hope you succeed in keeping the trolls away..

    Exactly. While it might be harder for myself, @giggleshmack, and now @mumchance to keep the trolls at bay, ultimately I am just not comfortable with denying help to those who are looking for it. Registration should remain open as often as possible. In this one case, I disabled registration to ensure that current Fapstronauts couldn't be harmed. But now that it looks like we could contain the spammer, the gates must be opened.

    Disable posting of links, images, videos and limit the number of posts per day for users less than two weeks old.
    Then once you ban someone, it will take him at least two weeks until he can try to sabotage again.

    But yea, you had that idea too.

    I think just plain ignore them. I know that sounds a bit too obvious but hopefully if we don't kick up a stink they will get bored?? I might just be ring hopeful but I really like this site an wouldn't want it to close just because of some individuals.
