Fighting urges

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Go All The Way, Nov 9, 2019.

  1. I'm fighting some serious urges right now. I'm like 2 hours away from my 3 week mark. This shit has been relentless for the past like 3 or 4 days.

A good tip is too really push ur body. Like when you get urges. get up play some music and start punching till your arms hurt or better if you have weights, use them and do a t pose while holding the weights; or a wall sit with the weights. Do it until your body starts to hurt. Keep doing it when you get urges.

  3. I almost feel paralyzed right now. Like if I move I'll relapse

Go for a brisk walk and clear your mind. Trust me it will help. Afterwards take a cold shower.

In this kind of situation, I actually think about how I felt after my last relapse. That shitty feeling and the sadness that followed for the next couple of days.
You can call a friend or do some social activity too. Just do something and don't sit idle.

Just don't move then. Stay completely still and breathe in and out heavily. Do it and just don't touch or grind your genitals. It'll go away.

  7. This is the best method IMO. Shadowbox until you tire yourself out. In the process, you'll realize how much energy you accumulated from 3 weeks without an orgasm.

There is another way to overcome PMO though; I be it, it's a slow method. I like Launch too btw. You can try to moderate first then build up a resistance to PMO. For example if you PMO every day, PMO once, skip a day, then on the next PMO, after that, skip two days, and PMO. Continue doing that. Just keep adding one skip day. Don't break the cycle. If you feel like PMO'ing on a skip day. Keep telling yourself you'll do it just not at the meantime.

  9. Thanks for the help guys. I managed to push through, take a shower and go to bed.

That's actually a really useful strategy. Thinking about how low you feel following a relapse kinda takes away some of the perceived benefit of giving in to get rid of withdrawal symptoms.

That's pretty much what I did. But damn did it stick around for a long time. And the urges kept coming on like waves until I finally went to sleep.

Thing is, I already do a crazy amount of exercise. I go to the gym 4 days a week, dance salsa 2-3 times a week, and do manual labor for work. Plus, I went on a 3 hour hike yesterday before these urges hit me. The danger for me is being tired, that's when I'm most prone to relapse.

Another way which I ended up doing many times to GUARANTEE yourself whatever day(s) you want to achieve is to use an older style cell phone. Not Smart Phones. Lock away any devices that give you access to the internet and lock them with codes you really need to find. I ended up putting away all my smartphones somewhere hard to get. I disconnected my computer and console. I made it difficult to plug them back in. All I had was the Smart TV. it can access websites but I set a passcode that locks the browser. I forgot and even now I don't remember it. I got to day 3. ;-; Cause I just wanted to reach Day 3 and then use my stuff again.
