Alexander Rhodes - Money maker

As much as I have appreciated the advice, forums, insights, discussions, knowledge etc. about everything PMO and it's addiction, I am annoyed by the pop ups regarding this apparent Alexander lawsuit to donate money. I don't feel like visiting the website as much now because I don't really know whether it's all been a money generator as well. Who knows where the donations go.... anyway I wonder who feels the same, I think YBOP is useful too but everyone has to earn a living and therefore market their products in some way, I just thought this forum wouldn't need to involve pop ups to donate money. Doesn't seem genuine anymore with money to cover a 'lawsuit'.

 

Hmmmm.. as I said, the site can be helpful, but seems rather suspect to force a 'donate' pop up at the top of the page having to scroll down all the time with no close window icon. And who really knows where your money is going and how it's spent... Who knows what is 'enough' money? $200,000 will soon turn into more. I don't need you to tell me to leave, thanks.

 

You’re not forced to donate, there shouldn’t be any issue there. Think of it like an ad, he literally needs money to keep the site open so why is this an apparent issue? He has no personal savings as it’s all been dumped into this site, so he’s simply asking for something in return if folks can spare it. That’s 100% reasonable and fair to me.

Don’t want to donate? Then don’t, he’s not forcing you to do anything.

 

Yes it's an ad, just don't make it an annoying pop up that can't be closed unless you click on it (bit like porn sites!( I'm not saying don't donate or use the website, I'm saying this very pop up is annoying in order to proceed to the website and do what I was supposed to come here for... That's why it's throwing up questions of intent of the site being genuine or not because the pop up forces you click on 'end the harassment' so it's like he's trying to sell you something. N9 details of said lawsuit, just a video clip of a woman talking.

 

Go help Alex's 'quality of life and sleep'. What a joke.

 

Wikipedia do exactly the same thing every year, which I also donate to.

 

There is a link to the lawsuit document, but yes I did mention to Alexander before that as much transparency as possible is a good idea.

 

On my phone it's just a header that can be scrolled down from. Like Wikipedia appeals.

 

How can that even be considered a joke to you? He could just close the site right now and try to recuperate some dosh, but instead he decides to keep it open and try donations. He hasn’t made this place a paid membership and his ad is definitely not intrusive whatsoever, are you unable to scroll past it and continue?

I never even thought about being a supposed issue until you complained.

 

This is beginning to sound like a standard, negative internet exchange.

As other have said, Alex is being more than generous in dumping his time and money int this site to try and help all of us in beating our addictions. He puts up with all kinds of crap (inclding loads of stupid questions) without even charging anything for the use of his site and you can't even put up with having to scroll a couple inches
