I feel overwhelmingly sad help

  1. This is by far my longest streak in a long time, maybe in five years. I'm almost 30 days in but I feel so sad and depressed for no reason. What the hell is happening to me? I have absolutely no energy and no erections in the mornings either. It's almost as if my Libido is gone, my happy go feelings are gone and there is a dark cloud over me. I thought this was supposed to get easier within the days?

    My habits are also good, I eat super healthy and even make fruit smoothies etc. I workout everyday and plus I swim. I don't know what is happening to me. Is anyone else feeling like this, with even healthy habits? I don't drink or smoke either. If someone can help me or has an idea please say so, I feel overwhelmingly down

    Not sure if this is of any help at all, but it could be what is known as 'flatlining'. The time you experience this coincides with the period included in the definition.You can find the term in the glossary, and you might come across it in forum posts.
    If you're going through this, it's said to be temporary, so, even though it seems hard to deal with rn, it's up to you to put it in perspective and finally overcome it.

    Im on day 37 and have been feeling like you describe the majority of my streak. Something ive realised is that the pmo addiction was masking all the problems in my life. Now that im on this streak and not watching porn or masturbating i have more time etc and all the problems have come to the surface and im having to deal with all the negative feelings. Ive realised how unhappy i am in life. Maybe its the same for you? PMO was a distraction from it all.

  5. I just noticed this! I looked on the forum and I think you're right. I might be flat lining, which is terrible and it sucks but I think I just have to be super patient and stick it through.

  6. Thanks for your comment, I agree! I can't fully speak for everyone but I think I might be experiencing a flatline. Things feel pretty terrible but I've been addicted for 12 years, and to have made it almost to 30 days, I think I'm going to take my chances and be patient and not relapse, because once I relapse it's so hard for me to get back on the ball.

  7. I think it is pretty normal since you have adjusted a new lifestyle the body would take some time to get accustomed to that. Keep up the good work. One caveat is that do not get too carried away coz the temptations are around you! Be mindful and stay away porn or anything can arouse you !
     
  8. Thanks man, steady and patience wins the race, and the race is every single day. I'm also looking for an AP so if you're ever in need to talk to someone HMU, and that goes for everyone on here whose closer to my age and up.

    I believe you're flat-lining and experiencing withdrawal symptoms. That overwhelmingly sad feeling (depression) and heavy cloud (call it brain fog) is also part of the healing. With time though it gets easier and manageable. Meantime, try to keep busy with stuff like gyming, cycling, swimming, and others. Best of luck buddy.
     
  10. Bro, irrespective of your streak, ups and downs will keep coming into your life, they don't have any relation with your streak (mostly). Don't worry, my experience has been the same as well. We are not machines and a lot of factors can influence your libido, can't track and pinpoint them always.

    Sounds like I know what you are going through and honestly I can’t say anything other than state my opinions from my personal NoFap journey.

    If you’ve been watching porn for a long time and you start NoFap Challenge you can not see progress without such frustration. In one month you can not unwire 5years of porn. It took my about 2-3 months to get my morning wood and erections and feeling more fulfilled. So I’d say not to worry, just let your labido gradually revive and over time if you don’t watch NSFW content you should be fine

    Hippocrates: “If you are in a bad mood go for a walk. If you are still in a bad mood go for another walk.” Seriously, aerobic exercise is the best remedy to get you through first months of recovery. I can't imagine going through early withdrawals without daily hour of cycling, walking or running. Try it even if you don't feel like it. You wrote that you swim, but how intensive is your swimming? I found out that vigorous aerobic exercise is the way to go in early stages of recovery when your brain is still in shock from not getting it's daily dopamine fix. I "destroyed" myself cycling uphill for an hour and a half 3-4 days a week and walked/ran for an hour or two in between days. Weightlifting is OK (I do it 3 times a week), but will not give you the same endorphin fix you need in the first 16-20 weeks of recovery. Mood gets more stable after that, so you don't have to exercise so much anymore to maintain balanced mind.

  13. Ofcourse ups and downs happen. But this is pretty much what happens to most of us during Nofap. The flatline or even withdrawal symptoms.
