What book are you reading?

Discussion in 'Off-topic Discussion' started by Deleted Account, Dec 27, 2019.

  1. Just a small game, where you can post the book you are reading or have recently readed. You can write what you want, for example i will do this:

Last Book: Jack London - Call of the Wild
Actually Reading: Jon Krakauer - Eiger Dreams
Next Book: Jon Krakauer - Into Thin Air

You can just say the book you are reading and nothing, hope you will join me :)

  2. Currently re-reading Twilight, and not ashamed of it. It was one of my favorites as a young teen, and still is. If you've only seen the movies, you have no idea what the book is like. The movies make the entire story empty garbage.

Anyway, I'm enjoying it. I've had a long year of so much stress, trying to accomplish too many things and just do way too much. I participated in reading challenges and such that just took a lot of the fun out of reading and made it more of a chore. So I'm happy to get back to the basics and just chill and read something easy that makes me happy.

  3. Never read it or watch the movie. I have all 4 books because of my sister but I never read them.

The only important thing is you are like and enjoying it, books are therapeutic and can be very helpful if you for example have stress or just an addiction to pornography.

  4. Cool I’ve read several mountaineering books including Eiger Dreams.

Do you climb at all? I got into indoor climbing and want to eventually start climbing outdoors.

Right now reading “Two years beyond the mast”.

Nautical adventures from the age of sail are my favorite genre. But I hate pirates. The only pirates I want to read about are those that are hunted down, captured, and brought to justice. I don’t think many people realize how brutally sadistic pirates were back in those days.

My all time favorite nautical author is Frederick Marryat. I’ve read several of his books. His book “The Phantom Ship” is my favorite of his.

I'm reading City of God by St. Augustine. I'm also reading the Bible. I try to read it from beginning to end every year. Right now I'm making my way through 1 Kings.

I’m actually reading the Bible from top to bottom. I read a lot of it over time but never books after books. So it will take a while.

But I don’t read it before going to bed. For that I read « Le petit Nicolas », it’s a French book about a schoolboy talking about his life. It’s very cute, innocent, refreshing and despite my flatlining it always makes me smile.

The Holy Bible, The Coiled Serpent by C.J. van Vliet and How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. I recommend beginning reading all of those books if you are serious about improving your life (and NoFap, as well).

  10. Really happy many of you are reading the bibble, i'm starting to read it, but i don't want to count it as book i'm reading.

In 2016 I stopped to make blasphemy, it's normaly in the italian language to insult God or Jesus and this is really bad so i'm happy to removed this thing from my life.

I am reading the english translation of Holy Quran which has literally changed my life. Moreover, I am reading deception point by Dan Brown

  13. I'm also reading The Purpose Driven Life, which has been really good so far, but admittedly I haven't been making as much time for it as I should.

I was born as a Muslim but never took any religion seriously. I have studied other religions as well. But, the english translation of Holy Quran has just been a life changing miracle for me. I am trying to be a practicing Muslim now. Most muslims are not what they are supposed to be. If you want to know about Islam, read and understand Quran, don't see Muslims.

I’m not against your religion or whatsoever, but I bet that your Quran has been edited or changed in some point.

The Quran has never been changed by even a letter. It's the only religious book that's never been changed unlike the Torah and the Bible.
