Help to quit porn! 30 years old.

Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by Deleted Account, Jan 4, 2020.

  1. This is my first post ever about my porn addiction. And I need help, seriously.
I’m 30 years old and have been addicted to porn and masturbation from a very young age. I remember my first time watching porn and ejaculate when I was 12 years old and it have ruined my life.
How severe is it? Well, I masturbate and watch porn everyday. And it can be up to 4 - 6 hours every time.
I’m on my second day now nofap. But this is not my first time on nofap. My longest streak was 10 days.

  2. The good news is you are still young enough to fix the problem. I am over 50. I have been addicted since I was 9 or 10. I have been doing nofap for a year. Believe me, you must do everything you can to quit now. Immediately! 30 is still young. Please make a serious effort. Yes, you will relapse, but as long as you keep trying you can do it. You need to change your life. Now!

Dive in with both feet now. Don’t dip your toe in the water. You can stop and have a great life. 4-6 hours at a pop is serious business. You are going to need help and support. You probably need to start attending SAA meetings at a minimum and you may need to seek professional counseling. But it can be beaten. I wish you the best of luck.

  4. tbh the more times you fail at NoFap the stronger in your resolve will be the next attempt, but know that the urge you get means you're getting stronger and healthier day after day.

Have some spiritual mindsets of thinking about god. Also, watch EWTN because those will help you in the long run and clean out the dirty spirits. Think about it, everytime you watch porn and masturbate, you're letting demons come into your dreams and that's not good bud. Believe me and you'll thank me later.

    Hi, welcome to the forum.

Just take it one day at a time. I've been failing for a few years, but not giving up, and my life is improving heaps.

So there is perfect, sure first go, or there is learning. We use p to mask difficult emotions. Lean into the darkness. Be ok with it.

    You got this.

This video helped me a lot. First you need a reason.

you need to see all the negatives of porn. make it a challenge to get through 3 days, 7days, 30 days, 90days, etc.
yes its so easy to browse a porn website and start jacking off. but its relatively easy to order heroin and get high off that too.
because its easy doesnt mean you need to do it. porn doesn't have any benefits and at your age you should have already seen that.

  10. Thanks a lot guys for the advice. But man it’s hard to quit porn. I know I am addicted to it. And these days I’ve been reflecting on some stuff about my self. After I’ve been on this site for a week and read some different post of other people having both similar problem and other kind of problems, and the cause of these problems. I’ve come to realize things I’ve never thought about before.
I’ve been depressed for many years for no reason really. It’s just something I’ve been when since young, and angry all the time. I didn’t have any social skills but I’m better at it now. Never been in a relationship cuz I’m afraid to show other how I feel. I could write a whole book about the problems I have, lol.

I understand. You ever try maybe just MO without the P to see if it helps at least stop the porn addiction? You can probably quit MO a lot easier than PMO.

Hey there, I'm a newbie to this community and the same age as you.

I completely understand what you've described. My life has also revolved around porn for years and years and I never realized it until I lost pretty much everything. I'm essentially being forced to start my life from zero, and it sucks.

But, just remember that nothing is impossible once you set your mind to it. There are people on these forums who have been heavy porn consumers since before we were even born, but have successfully managed to quit after a lot of hard work.

And you will need to work hard to make this happen. If you're expecting an easy ride and a few magic formulas, then forget about recovering.

I think you can begin slowly by implementing a few small changes to your lifestyle. You mentioned that you spend 4 to 6 hours on PMO on a daily basis, so it's clear that you will need to fill that void once you start abstaining. Here are a few things that I'm currently doing:
    1. Limit screen time: Reduce the time you spend on your phone and computer, which means turning off notifications or logging out of certain social media accounts, and not using your electronic devices after a certain time (say after 9:00 PM)
    2. Sleep early, wake up early: Basically cut the time you spend in bed. Your body will thank you for it, trust me. When you set a certain time to go to bed and to wake up, your internal clock will get settled and your quality of sleep will increase dramatically.
    3. Start exercising: If you don't have money to sign up for a gym membership, just go out for a run first thing in the morning (or whatever time is best for you). It doesn't have to be too intensive either, even a 30-minute run at a comfortable pace will be enough to get the blood pumping to your muscles and you'll start feeling more alert during the day.
    4. Sign up at a library or join a class: I'm guessing that you spend a lot of time alone, and by personal experience I can say that this increases the desire to PMO. If you get a library membership, you can take up reading about a variety of different topics, expand your knowledge and take up reading as a hobby. If you join a class, you can learn a new skill while meeting people with similar interests and who knows, make a few friends. Basically, find something interesting to do outside.
These are some things that I'm trying to do on my first week, and it is going very well, so I strongly suggest you start with this.

Also, try to reward yourself for reaching certain milestones. For me, I plan to go out and enjoy a freshly-baked doughnut when I reach a week without PMO. It's good to give ourselves a pat on the back every now and then.
