What is the proper way of getting rid of porn magazines and dvd's? I can't just throw them away because people can see that stuff. Or do you guys know what stores do they have for shredding the whole magazines without tearing them apart?

    Agreed. Burn them.

Where should I burn them at besides fireplaces? Any other places?

  5. You can burn them, as @Nomar suggests, for the psychological effect. As to where, that depends entirely on where you live! Go visit a campsite, make a fire, and burn them.

If burning is unavailable to you, find another way to destroy them. Even ripping the books up with your hands, and cutting the DVDs with a strong pair of scissors, could be cathartic. Just be careful where you look when you do that in case you trigger yourself!

However, if you're worried about the environment, chuck it in your local recycling. I don't know where you live, but where I am, they recycle both paper and DVDs, so they don't end up in landfill. The people who handle the recycling see so much stuff each day that they probably don't even notice the content of the material.

    Your choice.

That's the old school way. Sometimes old school is better.

I deffo think burning would be good! I just used online stuff, but a ceremonial burning would be a good mental anchor. You got a garden?

Oh man this brings back memories. The last time I disposed of a "stash" was 1997-ish and it was around the time I met the woman who is now my wife. I lived in an apartment complex so burning was not an option (though I wanted to) so I just chucked them all in the dumpster and prayed (literally) no one else would find them. Sadly that didn't cut off my PMO, the stimuli only changed to online.

  9. If you really want porn you will always find it. The internet is a stealth bomber!

    Very defeatist!

You need to understand what porn is providing, understand why you need that need met, then find alternative ways of fulfilling that.

If you are just saying you really want porn, so you’ll find it, you will never make the effort to delve deeper.

I used PMO as a total escape and block of many issues in my life, through sessions with counsellors and a desire to sort out my head I have looked at it from a distance and feel I now can see a way to feel the way out of this situation

  11. Hi Gingeralan,
I'm being realistic not defeatist! If we can change from within then former triggers will lose their power. Remember miracles are born from a change of perspective.

  12. Hi comrade, what you propose is only an, albeit vital ,first step. But it is not a silver bullet for PMO addiction. I would use the analogy of healing a physical injury.
For example when someone breaks their leg. The first step, pardon the pun,is the leg must be protected from further damage. Therefore a splint and plaster of paris is applied.
Secondly and consequently the bone is able to bond again. This is the second and equally vital step. These is when true healing takes place.
Destroying pornographic materials etc is the first step in ovetcoming PMO addiction. It allows our addled minds to clear.
But there is a second requirement for true healing. This is that we do not acquire replacement pornographic materials. But above all we build up an aversion to porn that protects us in a fallen world. This is what I meant earlier by wearing shoes rather than trying to cover the world with leather. Which is obviously impossible.
