Whether it is sexual is not the issue. There are many things that elicit dopamine hits.

Most of the things on your list are not nearly as important for reboot as quitting video games, sugar, alcohol, caffeine, weed, and music.

    Do it for a month.

Then, you can maintain it with your lifestyle list.

Video games are terrible. Dopamine destroyer.

try nutritional discipline: Intermittent fasting, some kind of diet.

you might have a nutritional trigger by the way.

Start a new discipline (yoga, karate, running) and do it 100%. In my yoga class there’s this guy who’s at every class. He’s without doubt the best student in class and upon talking to him, I discovered that he follows all the yogi lifestyle (which he got from a book). THAT level of discipline is truly ninja level, and an inspiration.

I would say nothing but time will speed up recovery.

There is evidence to suggest that exercise may help to create new pathways, though it certainly helps regulate hormones for a more immidiate effect.

You should aim to generally be as healthy as you can while your brain is in recovery, but from what ive seen and experienced there is no evidence to suggest that cutting out caffine, alcohol and other pleasureable activities would speed up or slow down recovery.

From a HowStuffWorks article: “Heroin and cocaine manipulate dopamine levels by slowing down the rate of dopaminereabsorption. Caffeineincreases dopamine levels in the same way. Its effect is much weaker than heroin's, but the mechanism is the same. Researchers suspect that this dopamineconnection is what contributes to caffeine addiction”

You can do anything you wish. It’s your body. But, you asked how to best speed up your recovery. You have your answer.

There isnt evidence to suggest that caffeine slows recovery, to my knowledge. If you are experiencing negative affects from caffeine or is causing additional anxiety/stress then it might be a good idea to limit caffeine.

My advice would be to live as healthy as you can. Your main focus is to stay PMO free.

I know people who were very unhealthy throughout their reboot, doing all the worst things (but stayed PMO free) and they recovered back to normal, feeling great every day. Its not clear to me that living healthy speeds up recovery, though i could be wrong. I try to live my life as healthy as possible on the off chance it does speed up my recovery. One thing that i know works for sure is time, either way stay PMO free and you will no doibt get there :);)

I was free of coffee for two days and today I had a relapse. I'm feeling bad.
But tomorrow I'll be back to my fight. It is absurdly difficult to "survive in the morning" without coffee. Damn it!

I have a genuine question about these other substances (like caffeine, cocaine, etc.): Do these substances supposedly delay the brain's recovery from pornography because the ways of all addictions are the same? Or am I wrong? For example, by forcing my reward system by drinking coffee or alcohol, for example, am I making my dopamine receptors slow to recover? If so, how does it affect my PMO addiction recovery? Sorry if that seemed confusing, English is not my first language.

It is a mistake to think of this problem as being about moral or immoral or good or bad.

If we set up a dichotomy that says porn is bad and music is good, we slow our recovery. Porn releases infinitely more dopamine than music or caffeinemor sugar. But, they all release dopamine. They all trick your brain into thinking you're engaging in behavior worth repeating.

Many guys take months and months to recover. As long as you remain porn free, you will recover. This is true.

But, the quickest path is to deprivemyour brain of dopamine experiences. I am having regular sexmagain less than two months after quitting porn and masturbation. The first month was hell. But, I am here. The flatline is gone.

How you want to do it up to you.

  19. There's a few threads on this - try searching for them. A few of us have theorized that quitting music will help you "reset" and be able to focus more. Personally, a lot of the music I listen to is video game music and it always makes me nostalgic and want to play video games. And then I can't concentrate. Even if it's regular music I can never focus and I always get distracted and waste time. But that could just be me, as I'm very easily distracted.

I did an experiment where I stopped listening to digital music for a week, and it was shocking how quiet the world seemed. I was able to think more clearly and focus better. But that's just my experience.

You can't, Time is the only way to reboot. You can help get better by not edging to anything. Whether it's p*rn or nudity or thoughts. Unlike my dumba**.
