There are studies that show heavy porn use has this identical effect in your brain

Yes, that is exactly what brain scans are showing.. when you use porn to stimulate yourself, your brain produces massive amounts of different chemicals, ie dopamine. It changes your brain. It creates different neuropathways. Just because your body produces the drug doesn’t mean it has less of an effect . I think this is where so many people have a hard time grasping the health dangers.

  14. I think both pictures the heroin brain and the porn brain are false. Having brains like that is only possible through severe dementia or decades of chronic schizophrenia. I think the porn brain only have the amygdala and the limbic system a little bit reduced (and not like in the picture the whole neocortex) and the heroin brain probably have no visible changes at all. Still this doesnt mean that heroin or porn are not worthy of quitting. But the pictures are definetely wrong. They maybe more resemble the effects of BSE or Creutzfeld-Jakobs-disease, they look like spongiform encephalopathy. This cannot be reached just by amygdaloid or dopaminergic over-stimulation (which by the fact is not true for heroin, because it stimulates the beta-endorphine receptors and pmo only partially is stimulating dopamine, but more so oxytocin and just sheer amygdaloid arousal, while dopamine is more of a issue when it comes to nicotine, cocaine or social networks), not even by watching porn and doing heroin for 80 years. The pictures are at least truly exaggerated. Still porn is very harmful in other ways, invisible ways.

Those scans are actually from the amen clinics. They have scans that are worse showing what dementia does and what depression does.

There is a HUGE misunderstanding going around today, that behaviours can't change the brain. It can and it will. Synthetic drugs work by stimulating the natural reward system as well, thereby changing it in much the same manner.

Drugs in themselves don't destroy brains, they just enable the massive release of natural neurotransmitters (and the inevitable depletion of said neurotransmitters) that over time atrophy and destroy the brain. It's not the "syntetic" part of the drug that's the problem, it's the very organic effects they have on our very organic brain.

So what do cocaine do to your brain? Release your natural dopamine. What does poker do to your brain? Release your natural dopamine. What does porn do to your brain? You better know it by now.

Anything that overrides the natural reward system will over time damage and shrink certain parts of the brain. It doesn't matter if something is synthetic or natural if it does the same thing. One would never argue if it's more healthy to get hit in the head by a stone found in the forest, or by a man made bowling ball of the same weight. Our delicate heads don't care about the difference.
