Depression after losing friends

    How can you fight a depression ,stay strong and overcome this addiction when your friends and colleagues are being killed or arrested one after another? In my faculty( not even the whole university ) alone , there are about 6 killed students and 7 arrested. What shall I do? How can I bear this?
    This is the main cause why I started watching porn 16 months ago.There was a black day in 2013 when the police killed about 2000 people in 12 hours.
    Any advice is appreciated.

    I wish I could offer some advice but unfortunately, I have none :( All I can tell you is that we are all here for you no matter what the struggle you are dealing with. You offer some great advice and I'm thinking about you! I know Haggis would say the same if he wasn't snoring next to me.

    I don't think anyone who doesn't live where you are could understand your position my friend. It's so hard to hear something like that and know just how different it is there compared to here.

    I am sorry that your current location is so dangerous. I've had a couple friends die throughout the years and I still don't feel like it is equal to how drastically bad your situation sounds. All I know to tell you is that I am still strong after everything I have been through in my life and I guarantee you are too. Being put through so much hardship will bring great reward if you endure it.

    Hi Kurapika,

    I've had cases of students murdered by psychopaths when I was at university in the past. Fortunately they were isolated and cannot even begin to compare to what happened and is still happening in Egypt. Both our experiences have something in common: they make you live in fear. But if you think about it, there are so many ways to get killed, hurt or abused of, that no one will ever be perfectly safe anywhere. Whatever your situation, you can always choose to put aside all the things that are putting you down. It doesn't mean you should forget or stop caring, but rather to focus on what you can control. That's what I think.

  6. Anything I will just be a useless platitude. So I don't really know if I can give you any advice. I have never been afraid for my personal safety, and I have never had friend killed. My heart breaks when I hear what you are going through.

    I can only to turn to history to give you some semblance of encouragement. When Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was approaching Montgomery, Alabama at the end of his march from Selma, a police official asked him not to give his prepared speech in Montgomery because the police couldn't protect him. He told the policeman, "I am already a dead man." What he meant I think was that he already considered himself dead and so wasn't concerned about threats against him because he knew he was doing God's work. As he said in his last speech in Tennessee before he was killed, "Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land! And so I'm happy, tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man! Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord!!"

    your life situation is really hard (or extrem) kurapika.

    i think living in germany is like living in a "kindergarten" compared with your life situation.

    I know that feel man . My best friend was killed , my math teacher was killed , 3 of my cousins were killed (2 of them died under torture in Assad's prisons) and if I keep counting I will never finish the list , every day is a black day . I have so much hatred inside me . When my best friend was killed I lived hell for a long time , then my anger developed motivation inside me to do something for him , and the best thing I could do from there was to study and work hard . His blood will not go in vain , we will revenge for every innocent soul that was killed with cold blood . But for now we students have the mission of rebuilding our countries in the future . I'm a medicine student and I can tell you that half of the doctors in Syria are either dead , arrested or have migrated to another country . Our countries need us Kurapika . I'm not telling you to easily bear this and keep watching your friends fall one by one but just be careful man, no one is safe in Egypt . And in the end ... Rightness shall prevail , injustice can not last !
    May god be with Egypt ...

    I'll keep you and your country in my prayers as well, Musta. You and Kurapika are so brave standing up for truth and justice! They say that the Arab Spring has turned into winter. But remember, Spring will come again!

    Honestly saying , the current situation in Egypt is like a day in the park when compared to Syria. You will beat Alassad I am sure Musta.

    I can't really say that Egypt is having better days than Syria . And I'm sure you will beat Sisi too ...
