Another day bites the dust. More urges today, I'm finding self-talk really helps; especially if you have a ritual beforehand to get you in the right frame of mind.

    DAY 5
    *****************

I’m feeling pretty good on day 5. Lately I’ve had some inappropriate thoughts and memories enter my mind but I’m doing my best to dismiss them quickly. Thoughts eventually lead to actions so winning the mental battle and cutting the thoughts off before they turn into actions is key for me.

I’m on day 21 on my personal counter and usually the next 30 days or so are the real test for me.

I’m glad I have this challenge as another layer of accountability. I don’t want to have to leave this race. Let’s keep this going!

    So day 5.

I'm going to have a really busy week with my school and work. Normally I have a lot of free time but not now. Well maybe it is a good thing for this challenge but I dont like stress or rush. I try to live so that I dont ever have to work 40 hours per week or more, but lets see if it is possible also in the future.

  5. @Jefe Rojo Please add me to the challenge. Coincidentally I reset Friday morning so I am on pace with you all.

  6. Day 5 guys, I am work from home so avoiding that 10 minute trip to the bathroom is always a concern.

  7. My thoughts exactly. I need a bit more of accountability.

  8. Day 5 of the ultra marathon - dusted that track! Just a shit load of pit-stops along the way, having some major issues in personal life - wife and I were buying a property but have had to put things on hold due to covid-19 - she is absolutely not taking it well, and making sure I know... but what can you do eh? We are not living together so that isn't helping. Seems like I am dealing with things better then she is, even with no PMO!

Funny thing with how I am feeling right now, I have been dealing with brain fog as well, is the fact that... PMO just won't help in my situation. It makes zero difference. Probably would just make me feel a lot worse.

Anyhow thanks for listening, looking forward to day 6 - and even more, hope you all get through the day in 1 piece, this race is far from over ;-)

Props to everyone fighting their inner demons - this really is a crazy battle, I really do salute and take my hat off to all of to you all, and for creating this challenge!

  9. Absolutely! It's great to remember this. Indulging in temptations is short-sighted. Hold on to the thought of the prize ahead, of feeling stronger, sharper, healthier. Everything feels worse when we're deep in the mires of our addiction.

One thing I wanted to suggest earlier when you first posted about mental fog, you might consider having some blood work done at the doctors. I had a Vitamin D deficiency a couple years ago and was feeling the same way from it. For me it was as simple as taking some supplements for a little while and the difference was like night and day.

@kkn93hc7 Thank you for your support ! And yeah I get the feeling: when you feel so bad that even PMO will just make it worse. It's depressing but actually fortunate here because it means you won't relapse.

Thus, I bring my support to you for this "crazy battle" and I hope that all comes out well with your wife.

To all have a great day and like he said, hats off to all of you for making this step to start living again!

  11. I'm dropping out of the challenge after MO. I'm going to continue my streak with a no porn counter and see how far I can go. I'll revert my check-ins back to journal section with a new log. Good luck to you all!

  12. Sorry to hear that @netsurfer . Keep up the good work with no P! You can do it!

Day 5 almost done. Had my first real urge today. Sort of, you ask yourself the question, why not? But I was able to quickly overrule it. Soon we'll be in the double digits.

  15. You can only join if you started your streak on or before May 15th. So you must be currently working on at least day 5 right now in order to join this challenge.

Some of you mentioned books you're reading to help with your issues. I'm currently perusing a book called Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones. I've managed to put some good habits into place like regular exercise, prayer, and journal writing. I haven't gotten to the chapters about breaking bad ones, but I'll share with you the authors insights once I get there. They may prove useful.

  17. Thank you Destiny, I will have to visit my doctor next month, I did have a diagnosis which mentioned I may have iron deficiency (I sincerely hope it wasn't due to years of PMO...!) so this could be a reason to the brainfog... cheers for the advice.

I feel a lot better this morning (first time on this particular streak), so hopeful Im moving in the right direction.
