It's been a year since I joined Nofap last June. At first, I was nervous of what this support group had to offer. But I got more than I expected. Nofap is absolutely amazing. All of you faptronauts are great supporters and even though I have a long way to go, I know I'll have your support as long as I'm member here. Some of you are caring as well as understanding, yet others are very critical. Sometimes I had to bite my tongue, but it was the honest truth so thank you guys. I can't even imagine of what it would be like without Nofap. I've accomplished a lot during the last 12 months. Abstaining from porn was extremely difficult, but with the accomplishments of everyone else, it gave me hope that I can go further. I've abstained from pmo for 30 days at least 3 times. I still have to beat my record of 39 days. In addition, I can really feel the difference after a certain amount of time.

My confidence in girls has changed. Because of the testosterone increase, it just changes you amazingly and you feel totally different. For me, I felt better all around. I could talk to girls more, especially at my college. I've taken group selfies with girls (one was a professional singer) :D I've even given my number to a girl I've liked for years. However, I've also had horrendous downfalls too. Before Nofap and all of your support, I wouldn't have thought of doing any of this. I've learned a lot about pmo plus some helpful tips, dating advice, and so on. I also look at women differently as time went by. And not to objectify them and so on. I also gained knowledge of how poisonous pmo can be on the mind and body.

I pray that more people will join Nofap so we can help everyone in this wonderful support group to achieve their goals. Nofap has changed my life!! I feel really good when I help others with my own advice and it feels just as good when others give their advice to me. As long as Nofap exists along with other organizations like YBOP, there will be hope for others and together we'll take down the sadistic Goliath known as the porn industry once and for all!! They are extremely evil and they will continue to take the lives of innocent men and women like processed meat. We in turn, would suffer as well. Nofap has given me tremendous hope, and I pray it will give you faptronauts and countless newcomers hope as well. Good luck to you all!! Long live Nofap!!! :)

Its good that it's been a year and this is awesome but remember what your real goal is...
If you keep relapsing over and over again then there isn't really any change happening. You're here to abstain from P and M for ever NOT to do it less than what you've been doing. It's is a process. I suggest you take a different approach and really try to abstain from it for ever.

Hey ds112358, awesome daily health monitoring; gave me some good ideas. Its cool because it shows you are not just dealing with the symptoms of pmo, but making a life audit and change! Well done dude! warmest regards!

Are there not some health benefits from masturbation? Genuinely interested if there is or whether it is just a myth. Would masturbation without porn and just thinking about a partner affect anything at all and set me back?

@harrykellie If you are trying to break out of the habit of PMO you absolutely should stay away from M even without P. Any artificial arousal is going to keep the neural pathways alive longer and make the journey more difficult! Real sex with a partner is fine though depending on what one is trying to achieve, one may want to go hard mode ( I for one, did not do hard mode)

I understand what you're saying and I agree it's a very good idea that I must keep in mind. However, I think it's also important to not only turn yourself away from the bad habits of pmo, but find other ways to deal with it such as focusing on more important goals as well. For example, many fapstronauts told me to really focus on myself when it comes to girls, dating, relationships, etc. It was extremely difficult, but it was the best advice I've ever taken since being here.

I started to focus on more important things such as finishing school and getting my degree. The more I kept my mind off of girls, the better I was able to focus on myself. In turn, I found other activities and places where I could further stay away from pmo. One included a gardening club, school events, my temple, and places where I wouldn't normally go that got me out of the house. One was going to a multi-cultural event at my college. I even met a college girl there and I wouldn't have even thought about doing this.

Yes, staying away from pmo is important, but also find other ways to replace your time spent on pmo. And doing things that are out of your comfort zone is crucial for overcoming all forms of pmo. And one more thing, having an accountability partner is also important; I hope you have one as well. Mine was able to help me to install K9 and Mobicip (porn blocker for phones). Ever since that commitment, I haven't seen a porn video for months. I even let my brother install it for me! Although I must get rid of other forms of pmo such as sub porn on YouTube. You know, like micro bikinis and such. Anyway, those are some of the things that kept me from pmo. I wish you the best of luck!!

Thanks for answering! How are you finding recovery not doing it "hard"?

I've been making good progress on my recovery. If you go through my journal, you will see that my main problems were my addiction to P and also PIED. Even without hard-mode, I find that I am recovering from PIED. Presumably my recovery might have been faster if I had been doing hard mode but there is an open question...I guess i will never know. I think complete abstinence from P has been doing me good though.

Namekian23: Congrats on equaling your previous record of 39 days. I believe that you've got the hang of it! Keep going: 40, 41, 42, etc.... Just take them one day at a time. Knowing that each day is a new all-time record should give you added motivation to avoid relapse. It does get easier the longer you go. I don't know if that's because the urges fade some, or because you learn to manage them better. It might be both. At some point, you realize that not fapping is your new normal, and you gain confidence in your ability to continue.

Keep at it, don't get discouraged from a slip. I've made it 14 days because every single time I've wanted to Fap again I talked to someone on here or submitted a post.
