HOCD PHASES? Did this start from pmo? But really, this an easy one. HOCD is a made-up thing. So, don't stress it. Porn CANNOT make you gay. Psychology Today quotes: "HOCD remains largely unrecognized in the larger therapeutic community". It's not real. You are straight. Porn is a lie. Live in the real world.

I did read your big long post that was almost a run-on sentence and was confused about one thing. NoFap is a science-based secular program that works on porn addiction. Let me repeat that - porn addiction. Why are you seeking help with what you think of has HOCD in a program that helps porn addiction if you have never watched gay porn?

Let me get my facts correct from your post:

1. Never in your life have you watched gay porn nor have you ever been tempted to watch gay porn.
2. You are seeking help on NoFap.
3. NoFap is a program that helps people with porn addiction.

You told me to educate myself. I just educated myself on your views by reading your post. For some reason, you are worried about being gay even though being gay is perfectly normal - same-sex and non-same-sex relationships are both healthy.

You, out of fear and ignorance, have discovered that HOCD is a great way to gay bash. It sounds just enough like science, that you can use it as a weapon. Your theory is that gay people aren't really gay, they just have HOCD.

The truth is most people on NoFap who are worried about HOCD are straight and have watched some gay porn. Watching gay porn can't turn a straight man gay.

Yet, @Chill Pill Man , you really want to be able to refer to being gay as a disease or a sin and therefore you use the term HOCD. Adding the condition that you have never watched nor been tempted to watch gay porn allows you to use HOCD as a backdoor into calling being gay a disease when it is not.

Now, having educated myself on your homophobic views, I once again state that HOCD is a made-up term and that HOCD is just a new version of homosexual ideation. It is dangerous.

I am straight. But, I have family members that I dearly love who are gay and will never allow anyone to gay bash without calling them out on it.

As to terms used only inside the NoFap community, there is no reason to abandon those terms. Specifically, you asked me to defend PIED. You are correct, it is not a medical diagnosis. A doctor would just call it remarkable as being ED.

So, why use the term at all? Because the facts are that younger and younger people are requesting ED medication from their doctors. Further, when those people stop watching the lie that is porn and return to the real world, their ED goes away. So, the doctor's notes would simply state that the patient reports his ED has gotten better.

PIED is similar to the term alcoholic. One of the largest self-help groups in the world is Alcoholics Anonymous. Yet, the term alcoholic is not a medical term. It is a common phrase used inside AA to describe what most doctors would call alcohol dependant. Still, AA works and even many doctors will use the term alcoholic knowing it is not an actual medical diagnosis. Alcoholic or alcohol dependant have the same intent. PIED and ED have the same intent.

HOCD seeks to invalidate that being gay is normal. HOCD is being put forth as a term to designate being gay as either an illness or a sin. It is exactly what the term homosexual ideation used to be. A person wasn't a homosexual, they just had homosexual ideation and with enough "treatment" they could be cured.

@Chill Pill Man , until I read your post, I'd never seen anyone on here who did not attribute what they were calling HOCD to watching gay porn - after all NoFap is designed to help with porn addiction. NoFap is not designed to help homophobic bigots gay bash.

If you are not having a problem with porn and are seeking help with what you view as HOCD, I would recommend professional help. Since HOCD is generally recognized as a form of homophobic ranting, your therapist should be able to get to the root of your problem quickly.

Had to come back. Your ignorance on the topic of HOCD has haunted me all this time. I’m not familiar with this site, and don’t know how to quote, so I will attempt to respond paragraph by paragraph.

And don’t even bother replying. I’m not coming back to argue with a clueless individual, whom is evidently personally affected by a term already professionally and medically recognized. I am well aware of the topic, and you’re not going to come here and lecture me about it. Why? Because I have OCD and know what it feels like, idiot.
