How Could Access by Under-aged teenagers be Enforced?

That was my point, and it's not just looking at the screen that's addictive, it's the mo that goes with it, the screen is a tool for mo and like any tool it magnifies the force of what it's meant to accomplish. His argument was that teenagers won't listen to warnings. I said that some, but not all, would.

I think the best way is porn and adult content being blocked as the default through your internet service provider and mobile network provider, and to turn this off you'd need to be over 18 years of age and the account holder to sign in to your account online to turn the porn and adult content block off. This isn't actually being blocked from anything, as you can turn it off if you want.

Your internet service provider and mobile network provider could also block Vpns, proxy sites, anonymous search engines and third party dns as the default as well, and if you also wanted to turn these blocks off you would need to be over 18 and the account holder to sign in to your account to do so.

I personally think this would be a relatively easy system to implement. This would ensure that you would need to be over 18 and the account holder to access any pornographic content. Most kids aren't the account holder of their internet service provider or mobile network provider account, their parents are.

So if you are over 18 and the account holder of these things you would have nothing to complain about if you wanted to access pornographic content, as you can easily turn it off. But if you're under 18 and not the account holder of these things then you don't get pornographic content, simple.

Like I said I believe this would be a relatively easy system to implement.

You need to be 18 to purchase tobacco or alcohol. We don't allow anyone under the age of 18 to purchase tobacco or alcohol. We have systems in place that make it more difficult for people under the age of 18 to purchase tobacco or alcohol. Why is it any different to have a system in place that makes it more difficult for people under the age of 18 to access pornographic content? Why is it any different?

If our laws with alcohol and tobacco worked the same as how pornographic content on the internet works, this would mean people under the age of 18 would be allowed to purchase tobacco and alcohol, but it would be illegal for them to smoke the tobacco and drink the alcohol. But do you think they would listen? Or do you think many of them would just smoke the tobacco and drink the alcohol anyway? It just wouldn't make any sense. Similarly to how it doesn't make any sense that instant access to pornographic content on the internet is the default. What this means is if parents haven't went out their way to block their children from pornographic content, then this means all these kids have instant access to all this pornographic content on the internet. This is the default. This seems to be an acceptable system we have in place.

  3. It's impossible. There's porn on reddit, twitter, warez sites, torrent trackers, pussy pics in the google image search... Also packet filters on the side of your isp can be bypassed with web proxies, vpns while dns blocks stop working when you ... change the dns server.

Only solution I can imagine would be in the form of an on-device AI that monitors every action the user takes. But considering not even google can filter out smut I think technology is not there yet.

Like I said, how many 9 year olds will do this by accident? or 6 year olds? Have a look around this site, for an idea at how shockingly young a lot of people are these days the first time they stumble across porn.

Even if porn is 'everywhere', the truth is that 99% of people watch 99% of people through a handful of companies. If these are targeted and pressured into restricting their availability, the problem has already been massively reduced.

Addicts will always find a way. But it doesn't mean that children need to be exposed to it by 'accident' or an innocently curious google search being 2 clicks aways from extreme hardcore.

  5. I'm sceptical. The first porn I've seen was a magazine, the second was a low-res hentai video downloaded from some sketchy pirate site. I think we need to accept that porn will be with us and learn to live with it. It's relatively easy to get hard drugs yet most people don't do them.

I think significantly more people would do hard drugs if they were sold in bars along with alcohol. And even alcohol is far more freely available than porn.

But it's fair to say it's not going away any time soon. I don't get too involved in the 'war on porn' movement too heavily as I am a recovering addict and it is all too easy to use it as a tactic to get drawn back in. But best of luck to them!

It's and access problem and the lack of strong parents, etc. around to control what minors are doing. I am in a pretty restrictive area and there are enough adults in households around here to prevent porn and violent video access generally. I contacted my senators and congressman on the issue this week as there are clear laws on it.

There's this thing called internet, which makes this kind of surveillance pretty much impossible. The only way to prevent teenagers from viewing stupid stuff online is good upbringing. So maybe read about bringing up kids and teenagers and try youe best.

I've studied the working of networks in detail. i can tell ya, there's no way you can enforce just anything. reactive measures aren't helpful esp enforcement

If teenagers admitted they have a problem to their parents, then that would probably work to address the issue if they understand how pervasive it has become.

It used to be hard to access internet porn without paying, or verification of credit cards but that didn't last long.

Yeah. It helps. Most kids get shit scared about telling their parents, and stay in misery.

If there’s an awareness created among many parents in a society, they will discuss about it in their circle, They will learn more about it and then the children have some real support.

I really feel that many parents in a developing/developed country, parents:

    1. Know internet P exists, but don’t Realise and Retain this fact.
    2. If asked about this, they even know how badly it will grip early teens, but it just dosen’t strike them by themselves. I don’t think this issue is discussed among parents(in their circle of friends or so).
    3. Most kids are scared to admit this. OR they just want to enjoy that shit, which they don’t understand is ruining their Sexuality and Productivity.

So I think the answer to the question being addressed in this thread is:

Spreading Awareness among Parents via a Large Movement, like #metoo.
I think a large no. Of people of present day age group: 35 to 55 are Active on Facebook, Twitter more than Instagram.

This Movement must be HUGE, and receive recognition by Regional News Channels in different parts of the world.

But this is a far off possibility. Virtually Impossible, but yes, It will work if done right.

It’s not that they don’t already know about this, it just dosen’t strike them naturally how their kids are getting exposed to it.
Nowadays, most kids from ages 10 onwards, from families in the “Financially Middle Strata” Of the society own Smartphones!

The responsibility really belongs at the doorstep of the parents for sons and daughters who are underage. I never discussed the issue with parents, they were too old fashioned, but ministers, but that didn't help much. My mother's idea of sex was masked by phrases like "getting together" and dad's idea was you ask a girl out for tea or something ad the relationship follows. They were both products of their old upbringing and peer pressures. I saw too much overt predatory sexuality, especially in an older brother so was too intimidated to date but still had all the curiosity regarding the attraction of the female body.
