The START 2021 STRONGER Challenge [CLOSED]

  1. OK, friends. It is with great sadness that I report that I let myself get a little too comfortable, pursued intimacy with my wife, got rejected, and relapsed afterwards. This leaves me in a tough spot because moving forward as a decision maker that broke the rules simply is not acceptable.

    I've seen much feedback towards allowing folks to stay in the challenge after relapse. I've seen suggestions for changing the tiers, limiting relapses to ___ per week. I knew going in this would be tough to be a one fail challenge. I was hopeful it would be the motivation needed. Maybe for some that is what is needed.

    Options:

    1. No change. Those with strikes are disqualified and placed in any tier they earned placement in. (Tier 4 if 14 days)

    2. The challenge IS still open for enrollment. Allowing relapses prior to that would be an easiest fix if the group wants to go there. I'd remove the strike counter and after 20 September it would be one strike and you're eliminated and placed in the highest tier qualified for.

    3. I have already begun putting red "x" strikes next to participants that relapsed. We could adopt a 2,3,4,5, strike system for elimination. I am worried about this. I think it is a big incentive to relapse every 20-30 days subconsciously.

    4. Possibly the fourth(and best) option is to continue to use the strikes, and as @thikk suggested allow participants to still compete for whatever tier they can achieve. The strikes will be the tiebreaker if you will. So if two members reach 90 days and one has 2 strikes and the other has 3 strikes...the 2 strike guy will be listed at the top of his tier (1st place). If you reach 18 days and have 7 strikes, who knows, you could in fact be the first place finisher for tier 4.

    As one of those that relapsed after initially signing up, my thoughts are in a couple of places. On the one hand, most of us here struggle just to get to double digits, but we are entering this agreement to go 100+ days. In a way, we are setting ourselves up to fail, but we all still must start.

    The other side of this is that we need to be aware of these safety nets and the purpose of this challenge. It does us no good to keep on restarting and to find ourselves on Day 3 on Jan.1.

    If it was decided that I screwed up 5 days ago and thus I am out, I would be ok with that. However, if I have a vote, I would say to keep the September 20 date as the no turning back date, as long as there is only 1 relapse at that time.

    I really hate that "X" next to my name........

  4. I think both options 2 and 4 are good ones. I'll go with whatever you decide though.

    Day 2 here. Had a pretty rough morning but I won't be using it as an excuse to act out.

    Well, after further contemplation, I entered this challenge fully understanding what the rules were...

    I clearly lost and that is fine. If we decided to go #2, it would be a great restart and the integrity or better purpose of the challenge would still be in place.

    Looking for feedback. Will give it some time before we make any decision. I am hopeful everyone can stay on track. According to my math, OCT 3rd is the drop dead date for a 90 day reboot prior to the new year. I've even considered pushing the enrollment date to 01 OCT for that reason. Keep in mind, I relapsed on 30 AUG, hence the start date for me...personal motivation and incentive aside, this is a group challenge.

  8. Also, considering adding a LEGEND tier for those with over 100 days. Platinum would be reserved for 90-99 days. Legendary participants would receive a by their name. Participants that start by the 20th would qualify if the refrain from relapse.

    I'll clarify my idea here as briefly as I can. My point is that we are trying to help everyone achieve some type of streak by 2021 regardless of whether they are just starting off or are on 30+ days. Tiers will start off like this and everyone will be in the 90 day tier because they can still achieve that tier. (The dates are the time you need to start a streak to achieve that number of days)
    90 days - Oct 3rd
    75 days - Oct 18th
    60 days - Nov 2nd
    45 days - Nov 17th
    30 days - Dec 2nd
    15 days - Dec 17th
    If you relapse once in every tier you fall to the lower tier because you cannot achieve those days anymore. However, to discourage binging if you relapse more than two times before the next tier you are permanently disqualified (There are about 2 weeks per tier so this will allow 1 relapse per week). So the aim is that everyone achieves at least the 15 day streak by end year, if you reach that tier you would have reduced pmo to once a week at least. So there is no ranking or whatever, everyone just tries to achieve the highest streak before 2021 while limiting pmo per week so everyone wins.
    Also, you do not have to use this method, or you can alter it. I just felt it would help the people still on a 1-2 week cycle. I actually prefer the 'do or die' approach.

    Hi @BrohkenCompass, first thank you for creating this challenge, it's going to really help me. Unfortunately I have edged, but I haven't relapsed, where do I now stand in this challenge?

  18. Please see the following change made to the post. I copied some stuff from other challenges I have seen. The peeking has been removed as it is a confusing word and in my opinion, you're looking at Porn or not. I added a section for cautionary actions like you've experienced.
