This!! My husband has always been a people pleaser and getting clean finally changed this. It was like he could never say no to people and he didn’t get how easily I could, lol. He finally sticks up for himself too. I used to be the one jumping in saying no!

 

Yeah it's one of the most difficult things to deal with. And even in general - having a trait that you don't like, but can't seem to change is really frustrating. I used to sacrifice my own grades to help people with homework and never said no when people asked me to do stuff for them. And I always felt angry at myself afterwards.

I think the larger issue is self-esteem and confidence. When you manage to defeat something that's had a hold of you for so long, it's like a mental high. You feel unstoppable and the things that seemed harder or difficult to change before suddenly become easy. What a miraculous thing NoFap is.

 

Yes, he’s much, much more confident. Which is kinda crazy because I’ve never thought he lacked confidence. He got up and spoke for 45 minutes at a charity event about something horrific he went through. Over 800 people! He was awesome, how many people can do that? I certainly wouldn’t want to. This was right at the beginning of him getting clean. He’s even more confident now. When you get clean from this addiction, you see enormous changes.
