I have written down a question on my room wall.. "What if?".. to remind me of the good things I'll have if I quit these demons.. What if I survived all these days of challenge.. that helped to stay controlled.

Oooh I like this. Haven't heard of this strategy before! I just wrote it on a post-it and stuck it above my laptop screen :)

Back to square one after a recent relapse but I feel enthused about another 'beginning'.

I had a massive yesterday - groomsmen for a wedding, was occupied with that from 6:30am until 11pm, pretty wrecked when I arrived home. Today was a biiiiiig sleep in. Glad to be able to check-in here and have a proper look around/message ppl again.

Looks like you survived? What did you do to get past it?

  14. Yesterday has to go down as one of my worst relapse days in recent history. Had 4 fap sessions in a day. I expected to be drained today but alas I did 6 kms of jogging and 13 km of cycling and still have energy left. I think having built a huge 'reservoir' of pmo free days has helped a lot. One relapse is not the end of the world! However, that is no excuse to relapse again. I feel like the previous day's relapse is the end of all relapsing! Something in my heart just said that is enough brother. Enough!

    • Day 31.. Check in.. I think this is the easiest streak I've ever done... Of course there were urges. But far better than the last ones.. Days are occupied with gym, reading and studies.. Sundays are a challenge, though. Having committed to a challenge aids to the survival for sure.

  16. Day 42.

Dude, your drive to continue, to keep pushing...inspirational. Push push push, you've got this!

Has anything else changed btw? New discoveries, quotes or goals stuck on top of computer screen or around the house, triggers noted, anything like that? (It's totally fine if not!)

    Sweet!:D

Yep, having the challenge helps hey. I use a counting app on my phone which displays the current streak: Total Days, and the current challenge I'm in (eg 18 days in to the 30 day challenge). I reckon this helps because I am reminded of my commitment whenever I flick through the screens on my phone, and it's so easy to access too.

The post-it that's stuck on my screen "What if?" is also a good reminder.
    - "What if I look at porn?" Then I'll feel worse, I'll have let myself down, have let emotions drive my actions away from my real self etc.
    - "What if I do something productive or restorative instead?" Then I'll have driven towards my goals, who I really want to be, and I'll have cared for myself, and I'll feel good for it too.

  17. Thanks for encouraging me! There is no other option but to keep getting back up. It is good to see you doing so well even with the September Death Match challenge.

I have been reading a book called The Courage to be Disliked. It has changed my perspective a lot. I used to blame childhood trauma for my current state of affairs. Now my belief is slowing changing to "My Life, My Choice". It is based on Adlerian psychology which runs contrary in a lot of areas to contemporary psychology. That is what I would say has changed: my perspective in life.
