Help! Is this a relapse?

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Dec 26, 2020.

  1. So, I will explain in brief..

I am currently on day 7. Yesterday evening, I was watching WWE on TV and a fight of some hot girls came up so I turned off the TV.

Then, I started surfing YouTube, and searched Bobby Lashley (a wrestler) because I like him but a kiss scene of him and an another hottie came up. So, my brain got fade and I watched it for a couple of minutes but not masturbated. However, I got hard. Then my mom called me for supper.

After couple of hours, I went to bed. During night, I had a wet dream. I saw, I was watching porn and masturbating to it and I had never seen that video but still it was so clear and bright. I ejaculated too and suddenly wake up. It was too thick. I felt it.

From today morning, I am suffering from severe headache, cold and body pain. I played cricket with big brother and some video games in the afternoon. Now, I am feeling too tired and I am thinking of sleeping after posting this.

Pls tell me, is this a relapse, should I reset my counter.

  2. It's hard to say how much it actually set you back because everyone is different. Counters don't really matter that much, what matters is that you stop watching porn and keep that going. You had a slip up and that's okay. Last night I was talking to a lot of random girls (nothing sexual but it was still wrong because i was trying to get attention) and I know that was wrong so I won't do it again. I'd only reset the counter if you masturbate and orgasm or binge porn tbh because if you keep resetting it for every little thing you'll just get frustrated. What matters is that you abstain from porn and allow your brain to slowly get back to normal.

You yourself did not physically masturbate. You had a wet dream, that is to be expected. I wouldn't say its a relapse, just a side effect of being overly sexually stimulated. At worst its a slip up as Maurice says.

What matters the most is that you turned off the TV when a 'temptation' came and you didn't masturbate.

Keep on the path friend !

  4. Thanks a lot brothers for helping me out. I can't really tell you how good I am feeling right now. The good part about that incident is that I didn't masturbate. I thank God for that. However, Last night, I had another wet dream of watching P but had no ejaculation.

Anyways, I will try not to slip up again and I will not reset the counter for every small thing as @Maurice00 explained about why counters doesn't really matter that much and everyone is different.

Moreover, I read somewhere that research says 90 days is an average time duration for breaking any addiction. That is why most people gets rebooted after 90 days. Since everyone's addiction period and age is different, time duration may vary. So the more we cut out sexually stimulation objects, the quicker we get heal. Right?

Another important thing I want to add : Maybe, intentional sexual stimulation is more destructive than incidental sexual stimulation. What's your thoughts on this?

Sorry for my English as I am not a native speaker. Peace :)

  5. That's awesome man. I completely agree with what you said. I think that accidentally stumbling upon porn and saying no to it is actually a good thing because it strengthens your resolve and you won't have the same fear/adrenaline based rush that you'd get from seeking out porn. It's like being an alcoholic and getting offered a beer but saying no. It only makes you stronger. I'm not entirely sure about this but I can say from experience that I had a completely different feeling when I accidentally saw porn and said no.
