There are a ton of resources out there about recovery, negative effects of porn addiction, the truth about the porn industry, dopamine addiction, etc. I think it would be cool if we could collectively provide any helpful resources we've found (outside of NoFap) that might be useful to aid others in recovery and their knowledge of it. I know that when I learn about addiction and the reality of the porn industry and things like that, it really fuels my motivation to fight harder to beat this. If anyone has any good books, websites, educational videos or things like that, post them here so we can all benefit!

I realize some material, though educational, can be triggering as well, so anyone looking please be careful what you decide to read/watch if you're in a sensitive state.

Here's some stuff to get the list started:

    Books:
    1. The Impact of Pornography on Children, Youth, and Culture - Cordelia Anderson
    2. Pornland - Gail Dines
    3. Always Turned On - Robert Weiss
    4. Wired for Intimacy: How Pornography Hijacks the Male Brain - William Struthers
    5. In the Shadows of the Net - Patrick Carnes
    6. Your Brain on Porn - Gary Wilson
    7. Facing the Shadows - Patrick Carnes
    8. The Freedom Fight: The New Drug and the Truths That Set Us Free - Ted Shimer
    9. The Bondage Breaker®: Overcoming *Negative Thoughts *Irrational Feelings *Habitual Sins - Neil T. Anderson
    10. Treating Sexual Addiction: A Compassionate Approach to Recovery - Dr. Kevin Skinner

Putting this here as another resource:

When a trigger hits (or I can't let go of a thought), I try to remember to B.R.A.C.E. (from the FreedomFight.org, great website for recovery if you haven't already come across it).

B - Breathe deeply (4 seconds in, 4 seconds out) for a minute or so
R - Remember the truth (for me it's reading scripture, but just remember who you want to be and the truth about what porn really does to you)
AC - Accountability Call (call or text accountability and let them know you're struggling. Bringing light to the struggle can diffuse the power it has over you)
E - Escape (leave wherever you are that made you tempted immediately)

One of the keys they talk about is to practice this even when you're not tempted, 2-3 times per day minimum. You train your brain to start to react like that when temptation hits, and once it really does, your first reaction will be to BRACE instead of submit to the tempting material.

Also wanted to link this thread as it has a ton of good options (I think) for porn blockers on all sorts of devices/different operating systems. Hopefully this can help people out too.

Great books and in general, great information right there. Don't be alarmed if you feel shame whilst reading some of those books, it's yourself mentally realising just how negative porn can be on individuals throughout the world. I thoroughly enjoyed Gary Wilson's book, I can't recommend it enough. I might read it again to help develop and memorise my understanding of the negatives of porn whenever this topic comes up in discussion with friends, family, peers etc. Once we win our own battles with this evil vice, then we help raise awareness at our own grassroots level.

Awesome list! I'd like to add the book, Treating Sexual Addiction: A Compassionate Approach to Recovery, by Dr. Kevin Skinner. He is a CSAT certified therapist with over 25 years of experience. His book has been extremely helpful for me and I highly recommend it.
