For years now I have relied on PMO to go to sleep (don't look at my counter as it is inaccurate), and I was wondering if it is a double edged sword where in the short term it might relieve me from my sleep disorder but long term affecting it even more?

  2. There might be many factors to insomnia, NoFAP is not a magic wand to cure all things. Part of rebooting is disrupted sleep so be prepared that your sleep may become worse. It's part of process and sign of healing, but as I said, insomnia may be a complex thing, generally related to stress but also things like hormonal imbalance, quitting screen too late that cause melatonin secretion delay etc.

Well said but personally for me I think there's a strong link between insomnia and PMO as I only started having sleep issues around the same time as I started binge watching on porn. Could be a correlation but it's worth a try rebooting

  4. I would try to avoid assuming that impulsive porn use is related to physiological/psychological issues. It may be, but we don't know that right now. I would continue with NoFap and try to resolve your insomnia as if it was a separate issue.

I know that PMO can cause damage to your dopaminergic pathways which as a results can affect your stress response to sleep, do you know how true thus claim is?

  6. Are you diagnosed with insomnia? I don't have insomnia but I also use PMO as a sleep aid. If you can't sleep without PMO it's probably from this repeated habit. I can say from experience that after a couple months of no PMO I was able to sleep without any assistance.

That's good to hear and how were you able to sleep at the beginning stage back when you used to rely on PMO?

I wasn't fully diagnosed with insomnia per se but doctors have reported patterns of insomnia in my sleep.

  8. I would just watch youtube or netflix to fall asleep. I don't recommend that because it will probably prevent you from getting enough rest. I recommend to not look at any screens during the hour before you go to bed. Also getting exercise helps, and if you are still wide awake you can take some melatonin or other over-the-counter sleep aid. Whatever it takes.
