Hey, guys. I just was on the Internet and happened to come across a picture from cosmopolitan. I found my self looking at it, (started to get a boner), then I stopped and said to myself, "What the hell am I doing???". I then closed out of the site and now am trying to get over what I just let myself fall into. I'm trying to get this out of my head. I'm gonna get off the internet now and read a book, but do you guys think it's best to install a filter? If so, are there any good ones out there? Ones you recommend? This way I don't come across images like this? Please let me know what you think.

  2. The best filters are K9 and Covenant eyes, but they really only filter out pornography, I'm not sure whether they would catch a picture from cosmopolitan. Some people don't use filters... they train themselves to just disregard triggers. But if you don't feel like you are strong enough to do that, by all means download a filter. Be honest with yourself. Don't try to be stronger than you actually are. Strength (to resist triggers) will come with progress.

Personally I'm sick of all the flashy pictures and objectified women that litter the internet even on legitimate sites like the BBC. I surf the internet with the pictures turned off in my browser and, I got to say, I don't miss those pictures one bit.

I also have all images turned off when I browse on the internet. It's extremely important to give our brains all the rest that it needs to bounce back.

  4. I think of it as switching from being a cultural consumer to being a cultural creator. I don't know how people expect to find their fullest potential in front of a t.v. or on facebook.

You can also try AdBlock Plus. When I was first rebooting an add for t-shirts came up with provocative image. After I installed AdBlock Plus - no ads, no images!

Thanks, guys. I think I'm gonna start by blocking images. I do wanna train myself to disregard triggers, however I do think I'll start turning off images. Sounds like a safe start.
