I am really interested in porn consumption affecting academic performance. Did any of you perform better academically when you stopped using P? Or have any of you seen your academic performance deteriorate as a result of P.
I have a feeling that this may be the case for me.

I am very grateful for any answers!

Hi bro, porn significantly affects your brain and it's functions.i read many accounts of people whose academic perfomance is affected by PMO.this is because your ability to think, recall, understand, and comprehend is overly affected.
Porn causes FORGETFULNESS,you would be told one thing now and you would forget it fews minutes later.
I have no words to explain this to you but i believe it happens,i am a good example.when i was in college My CGPA has been dropping down as i crept through PMO addiction,.....
Porn change smart guys in to doll guys,
    Porn really affect your INTELLIGENCE.
I am interested in deep-researching on how porn affect brain in relation to academic perfomance.

Thanks to you! I also feel that I was academically better when I managed to stop for a year. I am just not sure if this was a placebo or real. It's definitely one of the main reasons why I want to quit for good.

Yes , my notes increase to better but maybe the reason is i use my time more to study than to jerking off with fake pixels.

Thank you for your answer. I ask myself the same question. Are people only better because they use their time wisely or is it also because of the absence of P. I felt that without P I had the strength to make changes in my life. Unfortunately, I fell into that hole again. After that, my performance also got worse again. But I also feel a little dumber now than I did when I was free for a long time.

Great question, and one I had in my mind! I found two great articles that, together, help explain the role of each part of the brain and how it is affected by drugs, like pmo. Though pmo is not listed as one of the drugs used, we know pmo has similar effects to the brain such as cocaine and marijuana. The parts of the brain attributed to logical reasoning, comprehension, understanding, and most thinking matters are the prefontal cortex and some of the various limbic structures. These areas are severely compromised overtime and leads to vast decreases in functionality from the use of these drugs. Additionally, the evidence of decreased grey matter in the brain of drug users is a bothersome thought. These two articles will wet your appetite on the causation between pmo (and other normalized drugs) and decreased brain function. I'm not an expert by any means but find this stuff pretty interesting. Will definitely be doing more research.

Short answer, yes, pmo does affect your IQ and the areas of the brain that attribute to it. Articles:

  9. I'm probably a bit older than you (37) I used porn years ago when i was at Uni, and i didn't do as well as i know i could have done. I also smoked a lot of weed too so that also had something to do with me getting only a 2:2. However, i can say 100% that since giving up porn in Dec 2014 my life choices have been better and my career choices have been better and i'm earning more money now than I have ever done, I have been able to learn and develop a completely new skill set in a different career path and i'm happier in general.

Think about it. If you are spending a lot of time obsessing over porn, and then using it, that is time you could be using to embark on other things that are more productive or simply just thinking about things that actually pose a benefit to you for example, lately i have been focusing a lot on changing my diet to a more healthy one and also have got into cycling so i think a lot about different foods, exercises and cycling equipment.

The longer you spend on your recovery journey and the more you abstain from using porn, the more free space you have to use.

Thank you for your post! It motivates me to continue when I see how positive your career has developed.

  11. I'm glad i could help. The funny thing is, a lot of people don't really find out who they are until a bit later in life and whilst i got a degree in music production, turns out i'm really happy working in construction, never in a million years would i have seen myself working on building sites but i love it. I've accepted now that i'll never become that internationally famous record producer i dreamed about in my teens or meet A list celebrities at big record label parties etc, and that's OK

Trust me, NoFap makes you more focused. If you go without something for a while you do learn to live without it. Focusing on porn so much means you’ll never get out of that cycle. And when you stop for a week or more you see how your brain was wired.

Yes, avoiding porn and masturbation made me more disciplined in some way
which in the long run has led me to better performance at the university.
Especially because I had increased energy and a lot of free time in my hands

Thank you! Do you think it's only from the increased discipline or are you also cognitively more powerful?

    I think it's both.
Look, I believe that the benefits that you experience from doing Nofap are like the "Domino effect" where one things leads to another.
