Greetings fellow members of the NoFap journey!
I have been doing NoFap for one year and three months now with one relapse half a year ago.

I have experienced no benefits (or at least I do not feel them) and only the contrary.
The only exception might be that I can brag to friends about my NoFap streak and get their awe.

I often struggle to concentrate on tasks I do (working out, reading, writing, math etc.) and struggle to sleep at night because I am horny. My balls also hurt at times. I currently do not have a girlfriend to help me resolve such inconveniences.

I have never watched pornography in my life and consequently never been addicted, though I did masturbate in moderate quantities prior to NoFap.

    Furthermore, the following questions arise;
    1. Could it be that NoFap is not for me?
    2. If I continue my NoFap journey; should I do something differently?

Thanks in advance and have a wonderful day!

In My Opinion Nofap should be the way of life for every men. It doesn't matter that nofap is for you or not. Because these are just your thoughts. Your body absorbs semen after certain amount of time, as far as I know. It's the Life Energy, it's stupidity to waste it.

Everyone must find their own way in life. There must have been a reason you began on this path. Try to remeber why you began it and decide if you want to continue.

The primary reason I begun is that I wanted to be a powerful man. I felt equally powerful over a year ago before NoFap as I do now... This might be in part that I have worked out for a few years now and never watched porn in my life let alone was addicted.

I have heard in the passed that semen for men can serve as energy and this was also one of the primary reasons I started. Another perspective is that after over a year of NoFap I do not have more energy than before. I have also had worse concentration sometimes when I do daily tasks because of being too horny. If NoFap is so good for me; why does my life feel equally good with and without it?

You're body is sure going under some changes. Accept them and keep up the grind as much as possible. Don't try to push too hard.

I do hope my body is going under changes as you say. Another perspective is that I have not felt any of them except that I struggle to concentrate now and my balls sometimes hurt. I have been taught that suffering now to get something in the future is the right way in life so after one year+ of NoFap, I am able to suffer through NoFap for 5 more years, 10 more years or 50 years if I want. So far after one year though it has only brought about inconveniences and provided no benefits. Hence, while I could do NoFap for 50+ years I sometimes do not see it as beneficial for me.

What do you mean by that I should not try to push myself too hard BTW?

I see. Always remeber tho You always have a choice and you always have the freedom to choose, so you decide then.

In the sense don't try to do things forcefully if you're not able to. Take it easy, All the best.

  10. Why would you call it "the dark side" if you don't feel anything negative?
Most of us are on this journey due to addiction or "problematic sexual behavior". So we experience the mental impact of NoFap more than "regular" people.
It sounds like you don't have any problem regard your sexuality; you are not addicted to sexual comfort nor turbulent with sexuality. I believe that for "not addicted" men, masturbation in moderation is OK.
I might think that you don't feel the extra energy because you are already used to it. Its already part of your life.
So if you feel no benefits at all and suffer without a reason, you should rethink it.

I called it the dark side as I have experienced some of the aforementioned downsides in the OP. Your descriptions of my situation appear to be precise. I did masturbate before but maybe 2-3 times a week on average which does not seem that much.
I will rethink if the NoFap journey is for me.

NoFap is a comprehensive community-based porn recovery website.
You have never been porn addicted...

I am a little against the tide.
In my opinion, if you have no benefits, if it makes you sick you can also stop.
After all you have never had a compulsion to masturbate or am I wrong?
What kind of superpowers did you expect from semen retention?

Yep, never even watched that junk.
Before doing NoFap I would masturbate a few times a week and then I had compulsions I guess. I have had 3-4 strong urges to masturbated during 1 year+ of NoFap and also small urges from time to time. In short; I have had a compulsion to masturbate sometimes but not often.
I did not expect any super powers at all. I expected small benefits like increased confidence and more willpower. My confidence was good before I started NoFap and still is now; so it is not like NoFap ruined it, just did not have a big effect. I have some more willpower now than before I started NoFap; however correlation does not mean causation. I contribute this to planning my days better than before, knowing better what I want and consequently being able to work for longer.

It's good that you see it that way.
However essentially nofap is not the solution to all your problems, but a little momentum.

But if you are someone with compulsive masturbation habits, taking a long break and not watching porn makes you see the world in a different way.
This is why they say they have enormous super powers.
They regain possession of a normal sexuality, this should be the meaning

I completely agree that NoFap is not magic at all and could only be a useful tool in one´s arsenal.
It appears as if what you are hinting towards is that NoFap might not be for me. I will have spend a few days thinking about if I should continue with it or not.

  17. No offense brother, but the first time I did a hard mode streak,
it had a profound impact on me.

Therefore, when I read something like this, I think that probably
you are not being 100% accurate about being on hard mode
    for half a year.

Friend, you have no idea how happy reading that you never watched porn made me! I'm so glad for you, man! How the heck did you do this? Or how the heck did you not do this, to be precise? lol

Now, it seems to me that because you are not addicted to porn, the benefits are even less noticeable. So it makes sense. I'm close to two years of not masturbating and the benefits were only obvious in the first few months. You do reach a soft cap, in other words.

But that doesn't justify wasting your semen in that way, in my opinion. I appreciate that other members are not too pushy and they tell you that it may not be for you, but I'd be lying if I told you the same. Conserving semen is for everyone who wants to lead a better life. And who doesn't want to lead a better life?

So, my view is that you're way ahead of most of us here by not having messed with your reward circuits through porn use. Why not use this to your advantage and stop masturbating completely?

I know what you're goin through because I am going through the same thing. I have constant pressure down there until I get a wet dream and I have felt pain in the past too. I'm also not in a relationship, so there's that as well.

If you already work out enough, occupy yourself with creative projects, and socialize sufficiently, then I would recommend you to read some of the stuff Mantak Chia proposes in his book "Taoist Secrets of Love". I've never read it all because two thirds of the book are about non-ejaculatory sex. But he provides some guidance for those who are not with a woman.

His exercises about how to redirect the sexual energy seem to work for me even if I am not consistent about it. They really do help relieving yourself from that pressure.

If you'd like, PM me and I could try and copy the exercises from my Kindle version and share them with you. I'm sure I must have highlighted them. And there might be articles providing them around the web too.

Again, super happy for you that you've never watched porn! Let me know if you need any help...

    I appreciate your honesty!

I have never looked at porn and from my relapse in February to July I was not masturbating and not having orgasms. I did have sexual thoughts about women and did have wet dreams 2-3 times a week. Not sure if this qualifies as hard mode or not.

As aforementioned, I have never watched porn and never been addicted to faping so I think it is logical that NoFap did not have an effect on me.

Were you addicted to porn and masturbating before you did NoFap?

I have always been a believer that the porn industry is really dirty and something I would never want to indulge myself in. I believe Steve Jobs had the same ideology when he banned porn from iPhones and said "Go buy Android if you want porn"

What you are saying that there might be some effects that are small and hard to notice seems plausible.
Indeed it seems that I am often just burning of sexual energy and imagine what force I could be if only I could redirect it properly.

I would truly appreciate if you share some of the Kindle pages with me. Let me contact you in the PM´s!
